Android Central Question

The Note 9 comes with a wireless charger, which you can never use if you wish to properly protect it with an Otterbox. Why don't Samsung and Otterbox get together so that there not thousands of wireless chargers sitting in drawers or gathering dust around the world? This problem should have been solved before the Note 5 came out, but here it is again.

I don't know why the 9 won't work, I never had a problem with my 3 with an add-in Qi charger inside the case and the Otterbox on. I could charge with about 1/4" space between the back of the case and the face of the charging plate.

My note 5, s7 edge, and s8 plus were all in OtterBox cases and they worked fine with wireless charging. I never had any issues.

I had the OtterBox defender with my Note 8. I had to always put the phone in landscape mode when placing the phone on an upright Samsung wireless charger OR place the phone directly on the center of the convertible charger while it was laying flat. Sometimes I would have to reposition it on this charger to get it just right. I think the problem is that the phone already has a lot of weight to it and then you add this huge bulky case.

I had an S8+ that was also in a OtterBox but it never had the problem that the Note 8 did because the phone was a bit smaller and so was the case. The case was designed entirely different then the Note 8 case.

had several windows phones in otterboxes and my s7 and they all work with cases and wireless charging. There are even videos showing wireless chargers mounted under coffee tables.

the biggest problem i had was samsungs first fast charger that was at an angle. i had to turn the phone landscape, like mentioned above. the only reason i could come up with it the bulk added to the bottom of the phone offset the phone from aligning properly.
i did not have issues like that w the note 7 or 8. i haven't bought an otterbox for my 9, so i can't say with it.
Also, side note, my samsung fast wireless charger that was at an angle gave up the ghost and died after about a year.. i still have the flat white one that came out w the note5 and it still works fine..

Maybe because Samsung would prefer you buy the cases they made for the phone. I'm also using OtterBox Defender.

I use the Defender and the samsung wireless charger from 2015 that came out when the s6 came out. It charges fine on it.

Maybe you need a real 10W QI centified charger

Throwing more wattage at it is a band-aid, not a "solution".

And since Qi charging is pretty inefficient to begin with, this is like setting a finishing nail with a sledge hammer.
