How will the Pixel/Pixel XL hold its value?

I am curious to hear from those who own the phone. Do you think the Pixel /Pixel XL will be able to hold a decent value come upgrade time?

Doubt it...just sold my Galaxy S7 Edge in anticipation of my arriving Pixel and it sold for 30% less than comparable (same original priced) iPhones. Sadly, nothing holds value well except for an iPhone.

Just like any other phone, I guess. Take the Nexus line and maybe that's gonna be a good approximation.

A product holds its value depending on the upgrade frequency. For example, if a new product comes out each year and its a marked improvement from the previous product, the original will lose value quickly.

If we take a look at Apple's Macbook Pro's. There is only a new design every 4 (Four) Years. Which means its able to hold value for much long since the differences between years in only small performance improvements.

I think it will hold it's value comparable (percentage wise) to previous Nexus phones and possibly every other flagship excepting iPhone. There's always one or two brands in every commodity that hold value better than the rest. Like it or not, iPhone is the one for mobile.

Which iPhone are you comparing it too? Since the iPhone 7 just came out, the GS7 Edge should really be compared to the iPhone 6S Plus. When it comes to demand, its not necessarily about the specs/performance... How old a device is also matters, especially in phones.

I sold my GS7 Edge for slightly more than what an equal iPhone 6S Plus is being sold for on Swappa and I generally price my phones lower than the average market to get them to sell faster.

What is the over/under for price discounts near the holiday season?

I don't see any discounting happening in 2016.

Nexus phones tend to hold their value better than other android devices. Nothing hold value like Apple stuff though.

While the initial price is too much for me to buy it now (compared to Nexus 5x), I think the specs will hold up and would buy a new one in Fall 2017.
