Hows Att so called "4g" working for you ?

Tried it out. Couple of different locations. I guess I am not sure how I can see how strong my HSPA+ connection is?

But got speeds of:
0.27 Mbps
0.29 Mbps
1.1 Mbps (different test server than ones above)

It will be interesting to see how it performs up here on Rogers' network once I get my grubby hands on it - (In transit).

FYI - I'm not a fan of members calling each other trolls publicly. If you really believe someone is, please use the report post button. And the OP asked a valid question. This is a pretty ground breaking Android Motorola device on AT&T, so I expect (and welcome) a lot of first time posters.

Trolling -Do not post inflammatory, extraneous, or off-topic messages to provoke users into responding in a negative way. Calling another member a troll is also a form of trolling.

Carry on...

Have anyone ask AT&T why their 4g network is preforming like crap? What about the HSUPA capping? Wonder if there are any public response from them referring to the complaints.

I came from a IPhone 4 and the data speed on that is way faster both Down and Up.

I just noticed that At&t finally release some 4G coverage maps.
4G Speed from AT&T - AT&T 4G with HSPA+ and LTE - Wireless from AT&T

Here are the coverage areas depicted:
"Northern California" (which looks a lot like the North Bay Area...)
Bay Area
Greater Los Angeles
Greater Dallas
Houston
Charlotte
Chicago
Baltimore
Providence
Buffalo
Boston
Puerto Rico

Any word from people in those areas?

p.s. go to the 'coverage' page then scroll over the areas above to reveal links to zoomed-in coverage maps

I see no speed differences here in NJ over my old 3g phone.
=(

But the phone is awesome...!! =)
i wouldn't notice over here in Rutherford... i'm using Verizon's FiOS. Ha

and i agree... the phone is awesome.

Exactly,I thought AT&T wasn't turning on HSPA+ nationwide until March except for the above cities. As for the poor upload speeds, this was discussed in the Inspire 4G Forum. AT&T is forcing all their Android manufacturers to switch off the HSUPA settings in their phones. Only Apple is being allowed to enable HSUPA settings on the iPhone. :'(

Few things before you run a test using Speedtest.net:

1. Make sure your GPS is turned on. So it can detect where you at.
2. Select different servers for your test.
3. Keep in mind some servers are just slower to test with than others.
4. We already know upload speeds suck as they disabled HSUPA+

Updated Results (All done in area where I seem to have full bars):

1. Charlotte to Charlotte
4.05 Mbps Down

2. Charlotte to Washington, DC
3.15 Mbps Down

3. Charlotte to New York, NY
3.55 Mbps Down

4. Charlotte to Austin, TX
3.70 Mbps Down

5. Charlotte to Phoenix, AZ
3.12 Mbps Down

I am also in Charlotte and I obtained similar speeds. Max was topping out at just above 4 Mbps. Phone is awesome and no regrets there, but I was definitely hoping for slightly better speed with some VZ LTE tests in this area getting 17-20 Mbps

I dont think it will be much of a big deal 20mbps vs 5-7 mbps, unless of course your tethering. The phone's screen is so small that the amount of data needed to render a web page is considerably less than that of a computer. So i would be happy if att can provide 5-7mbps download. So far im receiving 3 mbps in Los Angeles

Well, I hope the 4G isn't turned on because the DL Speed is the same or worst as my old Iphone 4. Im in Los Angeles where the Dark Blue 4G area in the Coverage map shows. Hoping for better in March..........

Fastest Ive got is 3Mbps.

Ive been using it with my WIMAX clearspot. :) 6Mbps average with that!

Speeds

Atrix- 3.1 mbps down & 300kbps up
Inspire 3.0 mbps down & 380 kbps up

South Jersey

Its a shame Att is doing this with disabling the HSUPA... Both phones are pretty awesome.

So, anyone looking into an LTE phone might want to hold off based on this report from FoxNews, LTE could be jamming GPS signals

FoxNews.com - Fast New Smartphone Network May Threaten GPS, FCC Fears

This story confuses me, it says lightsquared may be causing it but this part is confusing....

"Sprint, Verizon and other cellular companies have spent billions in recent years to unveil so-called 4G wireless networks of their own, without any reported effects on the GPS system. LightSquared's broadband cellular network, which will provide service to national and regional cell phone companies, retailers and electronic equipment manufacturers, is expected to reach 260 million people by 2016."

So is Verizon's LTE really lightsquared and being resold or is it their own and is not causing problems? Im confused.
