How's the battery life on your Nexus 5X?

I use an automation app to record screen on/off drain rates.

Screen off drain is consistently averages 1-2% except on days when I do a lot of music streaming with the screen off where it will creep up to 2-3% per hour. Screen on drain varies depending on usage and screen brightness but will normally average to somewhere between 12 and 16% per hour.

I normally get 4-5 hours screen on with my typical use - I've sat an reading an ebook all day at home on one day and it got me just over 7 hours

What is impressive compared to my last phone is that background music streaming in the car and also using GPS/Navigation is not a huge battery killer. I do both of these a lot.

I've only had my phone for a few days now and have had minor issues but last night I charged my phone to 100% and unplugged soon before I went to sleep at around 10pm. I woke up at about 5:30 and it was down to 70%. It should be better than that right? I don't have anything fancy running...just connected to wifi. I installed gsam so i'll try and do the same thing tonight and see what gsam has to report tomorrow.

I had a similar issue. Rebooting the phone solved the problem.

I believe I charged the phone while it was off and barely used it once I turned it on.

I unplugged my phone at about 7am and I am now at 27%. Thats with moderate usage and almost 3 hours of screen on time. Gsam says my screen used 78%, phone used 9% and app usage used 8%. I made a task in tasker to dim the screen while i'm at work since i'm inside and can see it just fine while it's dim. I didn't do that until about half way through my day so tomorrow will be a better to judge if that helps. I'm happy with this. My Moto X 2013 would have been down to 30% by 1pm and need to be charged.

Just woke up and it was at 95% after about 7 and a half hours. So either rebooting right before going to sleep helped or maybe there was just something else going on the night before. Tonight I'll try charging it fully but not rebooting.

I thought mine was fixed but isn't. You are showing similar drain to me. Doze doesn't seem to be working due to some wake lock. The only thing is I can't work out what exactly. A couple of things point to WiFi but I'm not sure.

I've installed GSam battery monitor to take a closer look.

Today I hardly used my phone and went from 100%-30% in a few hours with 1 hour SOT. It's driving me mad.

From what i've read, in order for doze to kick in the phone has to be left untouched for a period of time. If any of the sensors are activated doze will "turn off". The only thing I did different last night from the night before we reboot right before I was finished and once it turned back on I didn't touch it. Woke up and it only used 5%. I'm getting great batter life so far today as well. 62% left after about 6 and a half hours. Only and hour and a half of screen on time though.

Have you tried rebooting? Have you installed any apps recently that you can uninstall?

If doze comes on your email stops being pushed? I need to know immediately when I get email.

I've stripped my phone and apps back almost to bare bones, certainly uninstalled apps recently added. I've rebooted, cleared cache multiple times. I'll see if anything comes from GSam before I factory reset.

Interesting...

I remembered that Chrome could be a bit of a battery killer so I've reverted back to Chrome Beta and now have 3 1/2 hours SOT with 37% left. I've been absolutely hammering the phone with Twitter, Chrome Beta, texts etc as well while the Newcastle match was on.

You can change the settings and select which apps you don't want to go into standby or whatever the correct term is. Mine started doing that, I stopped getting email notifications until I moved my phone and it woke up.

From the home screen swipe down and select the battery indicator. Tap the 3 vertical dots and select battery optimization. Select the pull down arrow and tap on All apps. Scroll down until you see whatever email app you use then select it. Choose "Don't optimize". That should prevent that app from going to sleep. It will use more battery though.

When I woke up this morning I had 97% battery after 7 hours and 42 min. So Doze is definitely working. I have been turning it off charging it fully before I go to sleep and last night I used it very minimal while it was still on the charger and then unplugged it. So far i'm down to 88% after about 3 hours. I'm not going to keep reporting every day but I just thought these past few days could be helpful for anyone curious if doze works or not. For me it really doze....HA! Get it? Cause it's like does?

What I find irritating about this is in 6.0.0, this was working the way it should. The phone would doze but periodically "wake up" to check email. Now in 6.0.1, when it's dozing, it's completely dead to the world and won't check email until you physically move the phone. Garbage.

So, my phone just isn't Dozing. It's fine if I use the phone in long continuous runs but if I leave it on the desk or on the car seat or whatever, I have a steady gradient of battery usage. Not at it's worst today but still down to 15% with one hour SOT. I've got some sort of wakelock but not sure what. To compound issues I have the reporting error where settings tells me battery drain on each item is low, so screen 6%, Google Play Services 3% (I suspect this is high if relative to screen..).

I've been busy and travelling today (in the car) so I've not used the phone much until this evening when texting (I know) about the football (soccer). If I have to travel and use the phone a lot I'm done in 6 hours.

GSam isn't being much help either. It reports screen at 81% but on/off at 21/44% WTF? Nothing else is high or abnormal looking.

I hate factory reset to fix issues but I'm about 2 days away at this point - if I don't change the phone for something else.

What do you have your location mode set to? Do you have bluetooth and wifi on while the phone is draining like this?

Has anyone figured this out yet? Got my 5x a week ago, same apps as my Moto X 2013 (bless its little heart, it's been a beast) - and the battery drain is driving me nuts!

The culprit, according to GSam, is Chrome and my screen, possibly Wi-Fi. I'm on home Wi-Fi that's very fast, so not sure what the issue is there.

I've tried wiping cache partition, but that literally took 3 seconds? And no improvement.

I'm now using Nova Launcher, thinking maybe Google Launcher is problematic (also huge icons!), and same issue. My fingerprint and camera area get warm-to-hot, making it uncomfortable to take a call with the phone to my ear.

I've talked to Google and am getting a replacement, but reading this thread, seems others have this issue?

I have the 32GB 5x, and oh...location services is always set to off and all apps are battery optimized.

Thoughts?

I noticed my 5x getting hot the first few days I had it also, but not at all since. Also, I think my battery life has improved considerably since removing the Facebook app. Coincidentally, I get a lot more done.
