How's the battery life on your Nexus 5X?

This is a really broad question, but do you think I'd be alright on a nexus 5x battery? I usually just check fantasy football, email, web browse, pictures, I stream a lot from Google play music. I usually have screen on time at about 3 hours. Also,I'm going to college next semester and I'm really looking for something that can stay alive overnight so I can wake up with at least 10% left.

Edit: I'm coming from a xperia z3c

I am coming from a Z3c and have been going back and forth about sending my 5X back simply BECAUSE we were spoiled with our Sony phone. Nothing, and I mean nothing, has that phone beat with battery life. I actually was going to send it back until I tried to put the Concept MM rom on it and bricked my Z3c. LOL! So I am now a happy permanent owner of a new Nexus 5X. I will make it work and the rapid charging truly helps. When I am in the car, if I need to charge, then I will plug it in with my rapid charging car charger that I just bought off Amazon, and charge my phone to and from my destination. Even 10- 15 min charge can get us a few hours. So I know I will be happy, but if I have a day where I cannot be tethered to a charger if I am using a lot of juice, maybe at Six Flags or some outing (which is not a super frequent norm), then I have a Morphie I can bring. I think everyone is making a bigger issue out of sub-satisfactory battery life from what their expectations were. I haven't had to charge it yet in the car and have been getting around 4 hours SOT with some juice left to still carry me through. I am one who charges nightly so I always wake up with a fresh 100% in the morning. Next year, I am hoping Google gives us a big winner of a 5"-5.2" device and I will definitely be getting that for sure. I am also hoping Google figures out some more they can do to extend the battery life of the 5X with a firmware update too. Until then, I will enjoy my Nexus 5X and the streamlined Android OS without the bloat and with the regular updates to keep it fun.

I was getting 1.5 days with my iPhone 6 Plus, with my 5x i'm getting about i would barley make it through a day. Now i'm likely using it more since it's new and i'm still figuring stuff out and fussing with stuff, but even with apples to apples usage i think it's pretty medicore.

I swear that my Moto G 3rd gen did better on the battery than this 5X. It may not have recharged as fast, but I worried about charging it less in general.

In the last few days i feel like the battery has been getting worse.

For instance: I unplugged it today at 11am. It's now 1:15. So in 2 hours and 15 minutes I'm down to 80 percent, and I've hardly used it. The SOT is only 27 minutes.

I can't really narrow down a culprit app for drainig my battery... although yesterday my Android System had used up 12% percent of the battery, and the Android OS had used up 15% Does this seem right to anyone?

I'll post an end of the day screenshot for ****s and giggles later.

Try checking Location Services aren't set to high accuracy. This is what normally causes mine to show Google services as a drain for me. Try location set to Battery Saving or even Off if you can stand it.

It should be better on the Moto G. It's a smaller phone (I know it's a smaller battery), with a smaller screen, lower resolution screen, missing some sensors, and has very few bells and whistles. The Moto G is a great little phone.

Yesterday was my worst battery day. About 9hrs off charger. About 2hrs SOT. It was also the worst cell signal I ever had. Hopefully this is an anomaly.

Thanks for the tip. I made that change and hope to see some improvement.

Compared to my laptop computer, your iPhone 6 Plus gets awful battery life. Seriously. What an invalid comparison.

As an observation, my previously posted stats were all with Verizon. Today I used my T-Mobile SIM. T-Mobile has much better signal coverage in my area. Thirteen hours off the charger and I'm at 68%. Granted I only have 2hrs SOT, but this is still very good. I will try to bump up the SOT tomorrow and see if it holds up.

Today is the first full charge day for my 5x. Gonna give it a couple days to settle before I make my decision to keep or send it back, but as of 9am, battery screen said 6 hours aka dead at 3pm. Honestly, that's terrible.

No charger on me. I don't have a C to A plug either :(

I've had it 4 days and the battery life is pretty bad if i'm honest.

I used to be OK with my last phone (nexus 4) as i wireless charged it everywhere (like sat at my desk at work id drop it on the pad between using it etc..), because i now have to plug it in i don't bother when i know ill need it again in 5 mins, and it barely lasts till 4pm.. I had to charge at 2pm yesterday.

Yes it charges fast.. and I only need to plug it in once.. but I do need to plug it in and that's a problem.

I'm talking real world use here BTW.. not screen on time or whatever people are measuring. I could my phones battery in terms of getting up at 6AM and being able to work a full day in the office with it, and still make it home without it dying.

HOWEVER.... I am using it more as its new.. so i think my usage needs to settle done to normal levels now before i make judgement, as the wow/shiny/new factor means i keep touching it when i normally wouldn't have.

Having now had the phone ~3 weeks.. The battery life is actually pretty good. I'm happy to say I was wrong with the post above.

Its significantly better once it learns how you use the device. I'm still annoyed by the lack of wireless charging, but I'd say stick with it for longer than you think.. The battery is pleasantly suprising after a few weeks once i stopped playing with it all the time.

Also.. leave it on your desk at work, not in a pocket.. makes a huge difference as it dozes a LOT more.

Ok, so I've had this phone 3 weeks now and I'd say the battery is average at best. I don't use the phone a ton during the day for SoT but I do take some phone calls and stream radio a bit each day. Mainly sending messages, checking email, a bit of browsing. My SoT varies depending on how much I actually use the screen during the day. It is capable of doing longer SoT than I make it do but I use the screen in short bursts so it isn't the most effective way of measuring or maximizing SoT.

I unplug at 6am and by 8pm I'm usually at 20% or under (it died last night) with anywhere between 1.5 hours to 3.5 hours of SoT. Like I said earlier, the days when I use the screen in longer bursts are where I'm seeing 3.5 hours SoT. My day averages about 2 hours SoT with about 20% battery left and 14 hours overall off the charger. I have purposefully not charged it during the day these first three weeks just to get a gauge on things but now that I know what it can provide I'll start charging at work some.

In comparison my iPhone 6s Plus with the same usage is over 50% at the end of the day.

So yes, this phone gets me through a day, but barely.

Right now, I'm at 65% battery. Unplugged at about 830am, short plug-in to transfer photos. SOT is 1h 20m. Doze is definitely doing most of the heavy lifting here.

2915mAh on iOS though ... can't really compare to Android. But I have to say, I feel like I have to be careful with my 5x battery compared to my 2300mAh Moto X 2014.

I'm pretty shocked. 2700mAh should definitely last much longer than 1810mAh.

6s Plus, so it has 2,750 mAh, so nearly the exact size as the Nexus 5x, yet almost triple the amount of battery left at the end of the day and a larger screen.

I've corrected my post after double checking myself. Thanks :)

I'd have to say my experience is nearly the same. It's ok... but disappointing for something I just spent 450 bucks on.

Looks like a game called Final Kick was the culpret. I think it was causing a drain under Google Services (I guess when connected to play services) when I set my players to train and left the game for a while.

I've uninstalled, and now the battery appears good agian.
