How's the update?

So far I'm impressed with my battery. Before when leaving it on 4g all day, the battery would last 8-9 hours. After the update I didn't really notice a difference until about the third cycle and the last two days on 4g have been great. Today I have been on battery for 9:40 mintues and still have 48% left on standard battery. I'm finding data switching is faster, as is the camera. Find I don't use Camera Zoom Fx anymore.

Got my update today, have not noticed anything different YET...Still exploring...
Next thing on the agenda is to root it.

Faster camera check, no hissing noise check, refusal to stay on 4g and worse signal loss check. My signal wasn't that bad before it would occasionally lose signal but I didn't have to reset it to get it back. Now it barely holds a signal and has spent about 70% of today on 3g, 20% on no connection, and 10% on 4g. Except in my house apparently a verizon 4 g tower is installed in my house. I have full 4 g anytime I'm in my house, move like 1/8 mile from house 3g or no connection. Still 6 days left to return only bought it 8 days ago version B.

The update seems to have made the camera faster, and conserves battery much better. But now I'm experiencing the complete loss of data connection (both mine and the woman's Bionic) post update. Really upset that the update made things go from fine to poor. Hoping it's a fluke or something that will sort itself out.

It's real random too. I get it being slow to refresh but it randomly will just drop and then take it's time to re-acquire signal.

I may have spoken (typed) too soon... I attempted to use the phone with my Jeep's (UConnect) BT setup (which had worked fine before the update), but could not connect to the BT. The phone shows 'paired but not connected'.

I may have to clear the Jeep's BT setup and retry the pairing/connection process, unless anybody has any other ideas.

Same thing happened to me. Re-paired and now works fine.

Mine is from launch day "HW A" as is expected. I downloaded and installed the OTA update (although I only had BSOD one time and other than that, my biggest issue was the screen would randomly turn off even if I had just turned it on. Fixed that by unchecking the "in-pocket" detection.). Post update I rooted via the one click exploit and I haven't seen any downgrades. Camera is much faster (tested that before I rooted and installed Kin3tx). I can't say anything for the 4G yet as I'm currently hanging out in a 3G area, but I'll be heading to 4G coverage tomorrow so I'll get a chance to see how that goes. All in all, I love my Bionic today just as much as I did the day I got it. It didn't hurt to see that Consumer Reports named it the best smartphone Verizon has to offer. Even over the Razr.

Just got home from work and decided to try pairing/connecting it again in the Jeep; this time it worked and is now OK.

Chrysler should rename its BT system "UConnect, or UCannotConnect" :p

:) "buggy" doesn't adequately describe the Storm! stinking pile of dog doo is closer to the truth. I had the original and returned it on the 8th day. kept rebooting and so did my wife's. pieces of crap! at her insistence we tried the storm 2. still had problems and returned them. months later, gave them another go, and they were a bit better (software revisions), but still no great shakes. hardly any apps, slow, internet speeds atrocious, even on fast wifi. ugh!! (then again, that's what I get for listening to her)

Worst item I ever owned.

Looks like you caught me glossing over a past troubled phone... I actually replaced it 4 times and wanted them to let me change to a different phone but they would not. It would reboot while I was talking then take 3-4 minutes to get back up and the list goes on and on... I was very close to dropping VERIZON. This is a case where the Droid saved Verizon in my eyes.

Back to the present: My Bionic seems perfect now so I am very pleased. BTW - People are on here complaining about the Nexus one day after it is released. Thanks for the walk down memory lane.

im still studying the update... im still having uber trouble at my house w/ data connection... jumps around a lot... 3g to 4g... im beginning to think that its my area... everywhere else seems to do better than before...

places i notice data problems... if i get in an area where i have NO data signal... when im coming out of my basement for instance.. or the other night i came out of an undergound parking garage... i lost data signal... took an airplane mode reset to get things back going once i was back out in the open... which worked well, whereas that never worked before...

im still under the impression that a lot of our data problems stem from a 4g network that just isnt ready... and its patchier than the warm and fuzzy verizon coverage map shows... still love the phone... even with the problems... good to see they are working on it though!

I did the software update and it didn't help with the 3G/4G data loss problem. VZ sent me a "reconditioned" phone, and I had the problem again yesterday at my house - sometimes 4G, sometimes 3G, sometimes no G. I called VZ and one thing they advised is to turn ROAMING ON in the settings. Also, they looked at the map and said my street has "extended" 4G which could be causing the problem. The "supervisor" told me the tower in my area should upgrade in the next month so my service should improve.

Update...

Have a "HW A" phone, data is poorer now (I used to drop sometimes but now it's more frequent). Love the camera now and love NO headphone whine.

I liked the phone before and I like it now.

where is roaming on?? cant find it..

my first bionic had a hard time holding onto 4G the whole time I owned it (about 3 months). it seemed to be a little bit better at recovering from a loss of signal (reminds me of the moon mission jargon) after I enabled data roaming, but still needed to have the SIM card pulled now and again. my current Bionic is on day 7 of solid 4G connectivity! unbelievable.

yikes.. just had my first bsod in a LONG time... is there anything to this hwa hwb thing?? mine is hwa

Trying to figure that out. Need as many people as possible to post HW version and if they are or are not having problems after the update. Need to ensure an appropriately large sampling size.

HW A, launch day purchase, richmond va

black screen of death pre and post update, random reboots post update, data drop pre and post update.

I'm thinking very hard about buying a nexus.

Me too.. BUT, after reading some threads in the GN forum, I dunno, seems to be a lot of "complaints"/issues over there too (4G, no Wifi, signal strength, notification/ringer volume, etc).

I'm thinking now of waiting and seeing how the dust settles with the GN rush and let everyone be beta testers for VZW and maybe pull the trigger on buying retail in several months..

Decisions, decisions! :)
