Ha! All these phone companies do not invest enough in or wire major city centers (NY, SF, DC, Chicago, etc.). It's downright false advertising. In the mornings and evenings, getting just about 1Mbps download in downtown DC is cause for jubilation. By the time you hit 1 or 2 pm and phones are all online full throttle in Downtown DC, the downloads are rarely above 400Kbps and often in the 200Kpbs range. WTF?!?

I live near Dupont Circle. This is about what I get all day long. The highest I've gotten is 18 down.

Metro is downtown... Better service there. You're near Wet Willies and Taco Mac?

I am at and around Georgia Tech. No matter what these speeds are way better than I was getting with Verizon here.

I'm in Decatur. I think I am fairly proximate to a cell tower though. (These were taken just now). HSPA+ (just reverted to 3G after the tests). I also don't know what happened with the ping at the end.

On T-Mobile HSPA+ 42 in San Antonio I pull down about 7-10 Mbps and push ~3Mbps up consistently. My central office is located within the "white" part of a T-Mobile tower's heat map and there my speeds are fantastic, 20Mbps/6Mbps all day like a champ.

The fastest I ever got in SF was 20.09. I'm keeping my fingers crossed about the latest KitKat LTE rumor.
