Yeah all thoose iPhone jerks are gonna mess up a good thing.

Just got my Nexus 4 today, and once it was set up and activated (T-Mobile pre-paid, $30 plan), I did a Speedtest. This is in the eastern edge of the San Francisco Bay Area, indoors sitting at my computer. It's better than my 12 MB Uverse home service! T-Mo has HSPA+ 42 rolled out almost everywhere in the Bay Area.

I've noticed the speeds are half what they normally are the past few weeks. is anyone else experiencing this? I'm hoping it's not all the new iPhone users

I have also noticed this. The past three or so weeks have been almost unbearable. I have a lot of friends that have also been wondering what's going on with T-Mobile's data in our area. We're in the San Fernando valley which is Los Angeles county.

I really hope this is temporary but it seems like we might soon see those AT&T iPhone overload issues.

So after having my Nexus 4 for two months and not having service because I had to wait for Sprint. I have finally activated my N4!! And the results are astonishing.

I'm on the $30 100 min, Unl text/web plan.

In the past I was paying $80 for crappy Sprint service (And that's with a 24% EMP Discount!)

Here are my results in North Miami, FL.

This is Sprint

The top two results are 4G, this is what I pay an extra $10/month for..
1.7Mbps Down .134 Mbps Up (Average from the 2 results)

And my 3G results
.651 Mbps Down .870 Mbps Up

Then we move on to the T-Mobile results...

No contest.

T-Mobile 14.00 Mbps Down 1.714 Up (Avg From 3 Results)

These tests between the 2 phones/carriers were all taken on the same server within 15 min of each other.

I haven't experienced the service much yet, but so far. This is the best financial decision I've made this year.

I too just switched from Sprint to T-mo prepaid and it has been the best decision in a long time. I am slowly weaning my 5 member family plan off of Sprint and onto T-mo.

In Sprint's defense, the 4G here in Chicago was beating my T-mo download speeds consistently.

I don't get it...

How come some of us have H while others have 3g or 4g?

I bought mine unlocked from the play store and have tried the following sims:

Straight Talk /att
Real Att
Prepaid Tmo

Mine only shows H or E no matter what sim.
What determines if yours shows H, 3g or 4g?

Mine has always just shown H or E with both ATT & TMO, with one exception.... There's about a mile run of road I encountered where it woudisplay 3G when I was under TMO.

I got this result yesterday. The weird part is that my city is not a 42 city, and the readout under the system status menu is showing it as being 21. Can't complain, since the download was twice as fast as my Verizon DNA sitting right next to it.

Just to clarify: even though the server shows chicago, I'm in a suburb.

Prepaid T-Mobile, Orlando area I average 16-23MB down, not bad at all, screw the extra power drain of LTE.

Your ping is very poor, did you turn on data roaming (see the other thread in this forum for why) and reset your APN? That should fix the ping issue.

Ha! All these phone companies do not invest enough in or wire major city centers (NY, SF, DC, Chicago, etc.). It's downright false advertising. In the mornings and evenings, getting just about 1Mbps download in downtown DC is cause for jubilation. By the time you hit 1 or 2 pm and phones are all online full throttle in Downtown DC, the downloads are rarely above 400Kbps and often in the 200Kpbs range. WTF?!?

Here at NYC, i'm getting about 10 mbs down and 0.5 mbs up.

Is this normal? Any tweaks to make it faster to like 15-16 mbs?

Anybody know if it's possible to tell what frequency band you're on?

I'm using a play store n4 on prepaid Tmo.

I'm curious to find out if I'm on 1900 1700 or 2100mhz. I have been searching these forums for days and Google searched like there is no tomorrow.
