HTC 10 and AT&T

Just wanted to say thanks to everyone for letting me know how your HTC 10 is working on AT&T!

Some reason I think you need to find a phone with VoLTE and use the feature on it first before switching for it. I had to do a similar process to turn off VoLTE

This is not the case. The IMEI's for the HTC 10 are in AT&T's database, so when you update your IMEI on the website or over the phone, the VoLTE provision is automatically added to the line.

What did you have before the a9? At&t allows the unlocked a9 to use VoLTE. He mentions that he had the motox pure which isn't supported by at&t for use with VoLTE.

It does, however, require a VoLTE enabled SIM card.

Where do you update the IMEI on the website? I can not find where to do that.

Maybe that's what the problem is.
Could make sense but then again the store people just gave me a sim card for the prepaid service.
Maybe the prepaid doesn't do VoLTE

Hey! I'm not sure if you've gotten everything figured out yet, but here's a thought... Does the other person you're trying to call have VoLTE enabled? I'm not sure if you know this, but the person on the other end needs to have it enabled so VoLTE can work. Just a thought!

I think thats only for HD phone calls
My problem is the lost of 4G LTE data when on a call

Yeah! That's the same thing... HD Voice = VoLTE. I was just speaking to AT&T tonight, and they told me you'll only see the 4GLTE logo on a phone call when the other person on the line has VoLTE activated as well. I'd suggest just trying to call someone with it activated and see what happens.

Its not the voice part that I'm having a problem with.
It's keeping the LTE data when I'm on a call.
I guest I find out when I switch to AT&T on Tuesday

Well, correct me if I'm wrong, but here's what I think I know... If you're on AT&T LTE making a phone call, but the person on the other end does not have VoLTE activated, then your call is going to drop down to 4G. So, you're going to have data through 4G, but not LTE because your phone won't be connected to the LTE network because the person on the other end doesn't have it activated. Does that make sense?

That's not the case on my M9 I can call my mother who is on Sprint and still have 4G LTE while on a call. It should work the same way on any voice over LTE phone

That is not correct. If your phone supports VoLTE it will always use VoLTE regardless of the other person's phone. You will never drop to 4g for a call if you're in a VoLTE area with a VoLTE phone and a VoLTE sim. The only thing that requires the other person to have a at&t VoLTE phone is HD Voice. HD Voice is a higher quality audio codec used over VoLTE. HD Voice should not be confused with having or not having VoLTE.

If you have a VoLTE phone that is supported by at&t and it's dropping to 4g then something isn't setup correctly. Your account isn't provisioned correctly. Your sim might be to old or your having software issues on the device itself. Also remember, the phone has to be supported by att.

Well, I guess the AT&T service agent and her supervisor were incorrect when I spoke to them on Friday?

That's correct. The only thing that requires both users to have a VoLTE enabled phones is HD Voice. I'm willing to bet they confused the VoLTE question with HD Voice. My phone that supports VoLTE never drops to 4g regardless of whom I'm calling cellular or landline.
