HTC 10 Oreo - Notifications

Hi, just switched to Android 8 on an HTC 10. Was using one with Android 6 before.

Somehow I'm not getting any notifications in any app. Neither the little number that appears to say I have xx new e-mail or yy new Whatsapp messages. I know Oreo has a new Dot thing that shows that an app has new items. That's not showing either.

In the individual apps I have found the "Allow Icon Badge" setting. They are selected "on" but don't appear to be working.

Is there a global enable/disable that might be overriding that setting?

Thank you. As far as I know the setting you refer to is turned on. At least for the apps i'm interested in such as messages, mail and whatsapp. Like this:-

Can try resetting those apps by long pressing tap info>scroll to storage clear data ,cache then force stop it

Oh sorry -- I thought those steps were for a global setting, no for individual apps ...
