HTC 10 Reviews

If your gonna come out with an expensive phone at least put it on par with whats out. S7 beats it in almost every category(display, camera, wireless charging, battery, cpu/gpu performance)

Very good point. Part of the problem is that people are happy that "it's just as good as X" but because HTC has lost so much mindshare and revenue, to the point AT&T isn't even carrying this phone, the M10 needed to be 100% no-question-about-it better than every other device on the market today. Make no mistake I want HTC so thrive! I've only owned two smartphones that aren't an HTC (Palm Pre and the S7) and I hope in two years they are around and I can buy the new M11.

They were always going to be "favorable". That was never in doubt. However the reviews I've seen are less than indicative of a home run. So-so battery life, a good but not as good as Galaxy display, much improved camera but not class leading, etc. These same things have been said of every HTC since the M7.

I was quite disappointed with said camera performance

wow that was harsh "THE BOTTOM LINE Get the HTC 10 if you want a phone that delivers great audio. For all your other needs, look elsewhere."

I take CNET reviews with a grain of salt. It wouldn't surprise me if they are bought and paid for.

I don't have a link. I only know that in my experience CNET reviews are not always reliable. YMMV.

I called it a while back that it was going to get hammered by CNET. Asb of late it seems like anything non-Apple or Samsung stands no chance of getting a glowing review from CNET in my opinion.

This is why I can't wait for real people to start reporting and glean the necessary information I need from it.

BTW ... We're hard at work on ours. Kinda figured with as good as our preview was on Tuesday, there was no sense in rushing just to meet a review embargo two days later. Plus we just got an OTA Wednesday morning for a few little things, and AirPlay wasn't even active until this morning.

tl;dr: Want it fast? Or want it right? :p

The thing is though that their complaints are being echoed by other reviews. You may not like the way the author frames it but her conclusions are entirely consistent with what I'm seeing elsewhere.

That is because they are bought and paid for by Apple. If you're going to say a phone is a boring design then that Galaxy S7 has a very boring design also a very boring skin overlay that is why I like sense it's not boring. And I love my HTC M9.

By whom? do you have a link for that?
Slightly old but relevant. CNet has been caught in questionable practices.
Also, because Apple and Samsung do the majority of the advertising, you can be sure that they're going to be taken care of. It's been like this since the days when magazines were the most popular source of reviews. Same in TV and radio. The big advertisers get protected and the competition gets stomped. This is why, even though HTC owners tend to be very enthusiastic about their phones when compared to Sammy and Apple devices they own, media reviews are not as favorable.

I honestly don't know. The 32GB HTC 10 will cost $699 (unlocked) when it's available in early May, which is as much as a Galaxy S7. It's a noble effort to challenge the current champ head-on, but it's almost suicide. Not only does Samsung have a great phone, it's got the marketing might to outspend everyone else and maintain its lead. A lower price would have put serious heat on Samsung.

Well, it is a lower price right now. They're giving out a $100 coupon on unlocked pre-orders (making it $599) right now so it already beats Samsung by $100 and there's a good chance they'll be doing other incentives at the time of carrier release. If they don't, they they're likely to struggle, but they're already doing something significant. For me, saving $100 as well as getting a phone I like better is a no-brainer. I'm just waiting to see if I'll indeed like it better, and so far that looks to be the case.

I wholeheartedly disagree with that sentiment. HTC could sell the 10 for $250 unlocked and it would still fall flat on its face against the likes of Samsung. I think it's impossible for an HTC device to put pressure on Samsung anymore (if smartphone sales is the focus). I'm convinced that the only way the HTC 10 could put up admirable sales numbers is if a Samsung or Apple logo is stamped on it.
