HTC Aria Froyo Update - 2/25/2011

Just updated. It was a pretty simple process. Didn't bother with a backup, just decided to redo everything and deal with whatever didn't come back.

I really like the new UI, looks really smooth. Haven't noticed much of a speed improvement, but that could be because I am working it over quite a bit to get things going again. One problem I have is Android Market doesn't remember any of the apps I had installed, and the online market doesn't see a phone associated with my account. I have restarted, logged in and logged out and nothing solves the issue.

Another thing I don't like is the "AT&T" in the notification bar when you first turn on the screen. That delays the time I am able to see if I have a notification.

How Do i manually update the Aria? Do i download the update from the HTC website? then what?

Download the update from the website. You'll also need HTC Sync on your computer if you don't have it already, so download that as well. Once you have Sync on your computer, connect your phone via usb to the computer and chose "htc sync" when the options pop up on the phone. Then open the ROM update that you downloaded and follow the instructions that follow.

Update: My phone just showed up in the online market. Not sure what caused it. I guess it took a while after the update to become available in the market.

It still doesn't show all the apps I had downloaded though.

I just saw the Inspire and it is much better than on the Aria. When the AT&T shows up on the Inspire, they keep the notification icons up there too. That is way better than what we have.

It's amazing what you can do with larger screen area...

I installed GOWeather and turned on the temperature in notification bar option and that dumb AT&T popup is gone :)

Hmm, I tried that and it didn't work for me.

I really wish there was a fix for this. It is really starting to bug me.
