So in fine HTC fashion they have upgraded their flagship device in record time... Faster processor and better battery. Sigh... Starting to wish I had bought an S3...

I commented on this on the front story. This is inevitable (yes this is quick) but, to say you wish you bought an S3 simply for this reason is crazy. The HOX is an amazing phone and will still be an amazing phone if and when the newest HOX comes out.

I just hope they find some way (be it this device or something else) to turn the tide of their financial slide...

This is the way it works folks. I expected this to happen. If we always wait for the next rumored device then we'd never buy anything.

:)

Don't think Samsung won't do the same thing. Look at the Note II.

If HTC made another Nexus, I guarantee it would be at least a year until its successor ;)

my thing is this... if HTC can make these new handsets which only are minor upgrades on an existing flagship, why not just delay the flagship release so it will have everything. That approached seemed to worked for the Samsung and the S3. I am sure owners of the international version of the HOX would be happy for the upgraded battery and faster processor. Sometimes it is better to be late to market and have 99% of what people want, than to be first to market and only have 80%.

So then when would they stop delaying it waiting for the next piece of new hardware? Just like purchasing a phone, eventually you have to settle with what's available and go with it.

There are retail cycles that they follow, too, by releasing in the Spring and Fall they try to hit both of those.

They had to wait for the Exynos 4 Quad to be ready, and for Qualcomm to have enough S4 chips to fill demand. The shopping cycles typically center around back to school and the holidays. So, really, they both hit that.

Also, if Samsung released a "plus" version later this year that would be worse for them, since the S3 launched after the One X. Less time between releases usually makes people more upset. Look at the AT&T SGSII and Skyrocket.
