As for HTC's reason for the cap.. Why don't they just make an HDMI out on/off option? No cap when off, 30 fps when on. So when you are not connected to the TV, you can get the 60fps

This rom is absolutely amazing! I was already rooted testing out other roms, but this one easily takes the cake. I use 4g quite often too, which was one of the reasons I wouldn't use cm6. I do notice the speed change with the screen to screen and response time is awesome. So...my only question is...the frame cap is removed the second the rom is installed right? Yup. Install it and you're good to go!! Install the app fps2d and you'll see the fps at it's full 30+fps glory lol. Also check out the app dotty to check out the screen responsiveness I gotta jump to 1.4 tonight myself

Nevermind, just went over to XDA and found the answers I need about an even newer version of this ROM and its make up. Will have tolearn how to do all this stuff tomorrow night. A little worried and don't want too brick my phone but will check out all the links you posted and read some more.

Wow just installed a kernel to uncap the fps and I am loving the improvements. Swiping through screens is so smooth now. Didn't think id notice that much of a difference but the difference is very clear.

Ya I uncapped via netarchy 4.1.8 CFS Kernel with good results. havent sucessfully oc'ed past 1.15 ghz, but hopefully setCPU will give me some better battery life.

1600 is a great quadrant score! I get 1335 @1.15 with netarchy/damagecontrol rom. Just dont want to give up sense just yet

I can o/c to 1190. Anything after that it locks instantly. With this kernel apparently it also undervolts as well. Battery life ftw lol

Awesome! I'm on version 2.0 with bfs8 kernel. Absolutely awesome dude. I'm also running the hi res add on. Glad you did it!

I took the plunge to this rom as well and must say I really like it. The only thing I miss is the sprint tv app. Know where I can get that. It was removed along with all.the bloatware.

Open Astro>sdcard>vaelpak-extras>stockapks ad go to the bottom. It's the second to last one. Almost all the Sprint stuff is in that file. All the Sprint stuff is removed, but it still included in the ROM, it's just stuffed in that file if you want it.

I'm starting to think that your more likely to brick your phone using unrevoked rather than just doing it manually.

Unrevoked doesn't exactly have the best track record. Maybe their new release will be different.

It's pretty hard to brick your phone. As long as it turns on then it's recoverable. If you head over to our hacks section we have a sticky that explains it all. Just revert back to 2.1 and use simple root. All that command prompt stuff is not as bad as it seems... I did it while drunk...

After reverting back to 2.1 then just use Simple Root... It's a snap.

I flashed Vaelpak 2.0 but the screen response is the same as before. Do I need to do anything else afterwards to increase the fps?

edit: just realized 2.0 doesn't have fps unlocked, going to 1.4.

Noooo dont do it! You don't have to go to 1.4, you have to download the 2.0 with the Kings BFS8 kernel. There's two versions of 2.0, one with the stock kernel and the other wide the Kings BFS8 kernel. Download it here:

Whats the difference between CM6 and Vaelpak 2.0 ?

If I read correctly I am assuming that Vaelpak gives access to 4g which CM6 doesnt. Are there any other difference betweent he 2 ?

If there aren't then why is CM6 so highly rated and Vaelpak going under the radar? Just wondering. Thanks!
