Anyone else have Swyps stop working? I guess it was just a trial on Vaelpak..

Mine stopped but I got the apk from elsewhere and it works fine now.

Swype is still in beta for the Evo, so yes, when a beta version expires, it will stop working. There are a lot of threads on this.

Absolutely. Difference is night and day. I am one of those noobs peeking over the fence (i.e., intently following the EVO 4G Hacks forum) at you guys who have done all the awesome rooting work, trying to decide whether to root. I have not yet, but if anything this most recent OTA has pushed me closer, since I can see there are all kinds of other things I am missing out on by not rooting....

Rooting has completely changed my experience with my Evo. Android is highly customizable as it is. After rooting forget it. Sky is the limit man. It's practically endless.

I decided to convert over to vaelpak today after reading this thread.
Completely loving it so far. However, I am not finding the HTC widgets.

I am using Astro and looking at /sdcard/VaelPak-Extras but I dont see anything obvious. What should I be looking for?

You can't use HTC's widgets without using the Sense launcher. Vaelpak is based off of Sense, but it's "Senseless". Meaning the sense launcher isn't used...

I really liked being able to quickly turn those features on and off by simply using a widget.

I use SwitchPro, and I know a lot of others do as well.

There's a 2.2 out already? I never got an email from him. I've been in Puerto Rico all week on vacation. I've only popped my head here, XDA and Vaeleks forum a few times. Gonna have to check it out. Thanks for the heads up

Edit: no 2.2. My bad. I guess you meant 2.1 lol. I've been on 2.1 since before the official release. I love it. I switched to Kings BFS8 though. BFS9 had horrible battery life. Glad you like it man! =D

Likely Vaelpak 2.2 will be out tonight...maybe tomorrow. Vaelek did say it may be necessary to wipe, but will be adding most of the requests in his forum. For those interested, check out his forum which is linked in my signature.
