HTC Incredible HD/Mecha rumored release date

If you are talking about Dual Core The Battery life is suppose to be better and compete with the likes of Iphone 4.

I got this from an article that I read that explains how it works...

It's pretty complicated and there are multiple factors that go into power consumption. Power consumption increases linearly with frequency, but with the square of voltage. You generally up the voltage when you increase frequency so the power increases exponentially with clock cycle. Therefore, two cores running at 750Mhz can draw less power total than one at 1500MHz. Where it gets complicated is in layout of the processor. Smaller traces between transistors and smaller feature size help to reduce power consumption. I can reduce power by more efficiently routing the traces. I can also reduce power by manufacturing at 28nm instead of 45nm. You'll find both situations to be the case with dual core manufacturing. You can't just double the surface area of the chip and expect phone manufacturers to make room when they're making phones thinner and thinner and incorporating more extras (NFC, 4G radios, etc). They go through some sort of shrink to try and mitigate the addition of a whole extra core.

Interesting but I thought the DINC HD was still only a single-core equipped device.

Incredible HD is suppose to be single core 4G.. If HTC and Verizon Still release it. I am hearing that it might be replace by with another device. I do not know if it is true or not.

Well they need to scrap it then. Because anything short of LTE, Dual Core, with Gingerbread labeled as a flagship phone from Verizon is an epic fail.

I dont see how it would be a epic fail if it didnt have a dual core. Besides their flagship droid devices seem to come from motorola not HTC. I think if its single cored and had lte with gingerbread it's a win people will buy it. I agree with most of the people here who say first gen dual cores will be battery vampires who suck it dry. I dont believe you need to make a dual core your flagship now. Reason for that is no one has them except lg who has already announced it with their new optimus 2x lineup.

I feel it's safer to get a single core LTE HTC phone that works out the LTE/Batter/Gingerbread use before a dual core/LTE/GB Moto Phone that is a wild card.

Still Moto makes great hardware, they just suck on UI.

You say that in December, you won't he singing the same tune in February.

The original Droid shipped at 500 mhz. Every phone after that was snapdragon. You really wanna be the last guy with single core? It's sooner than you think folks. Think about it.

I can vouch for the d1 situation as I was stuck in it oc did alot but it was never at the level of the snapdragons if you leave graphics out of it. Dualcore is around the corner and with hunnycomb being optimized for the tegra2 it will be in your best bet to get one

But if you are on the VZW one year upgrade plan like me with a January 11 upgrade available I can get something like the DINC HD then (maybe) and a dual core in January 12 with 4G. VZW is not going to have 4G handsets until mid 11 anyway. Not sure I want to pay more for my data either.

Well I don't know for sure about that I heard we could see some as early as Feb mar time frame but who knows. I'm just hoping for a quick lte rollout because I'm dying on this 3g network. My speeds have dropped drastically

I really wish we had a date for this phone. Would make my life so much easier.

It would make a whole lot of ours lives very much easier. The first picture I saw of this phone, I knew I would be using my upgrade for it. Wish it would've been my first android device tho. Dinc should make the wait seem not too long.

If it wasn't for this Thread I would have probably already upgraded to the DINC,taking advantage of Best Buy's free promo. So much for blissful ignorance.

Isn't that the truth. My god. I first got started on this phone stuff. with Tmonews, then I got a iPhone so tipb (rudest peeps ever btw) and now I'm here :). There's so many decisions with android you almost need websites like this one to keep up.

Im debating on whether or not I want to wait and spend the $199+ or get dinc (great device) for free now. If I didn't want a 4"+ screen probably would

I cannot stress the importance of how much this phone needs LTE, Gingerbread, and dual core. Without ALL of these this phone is a pass over.

I don't think it will have dual core. I have no source to back that up, it's just a guess. I hope it does, but something tells me it won't. I think if it did we would know about it already, kind of like the LG dual core that's coming out..

Honestly I think the qsd8655 will be March great processor until dualcore is fully supported and even then it really won't be that much of a slouch it will perform but not at the level of some of the newer chips.

So wait. You are signing a 2 year binding contract (when AT BEST you can upgrade in 12 months) that won't let you change your device easily.

You think in those 12 months dual core and various other features won't get full software support? I say you are wrong, sir.

I never said dualcore won't get support in that time. Support will most likely come with hunnycomb I simply said the snapdragon will be a good processor. No it won't perform as well as say a tegra2 when the tegra has full support. But in no way will it just fall on its face
