HTC Incredible HD/Mecha rumored release date

Yes hopefully they can have a fast roll out but I don't know. I don't really expect this phone until next year and by then it may be outdone by the dual core phones coming

That is my thoughts. This phone is great right now, but by the time it comes out it will have been surpassed already by the host of new 4G phones slated to come out.

The Dinc is still an amazing phone 7 months after it was released. Let's hope the Inc-HD is just as awesome.

Well the processor is great look at the single core benchmarks its better than the nvidia, and bother were tested with only one core doing the lifting. So if the single core is that good I can't wait to see how the dualcore qualcomm processors do. But back on topic im kinda less interested in this now I would rather pick up a dualcore phone now like a samsung phone or the lg. Will have to wait and see.
Edit
And I don't think android will get full native support for dualcore until hunnycomb but its better to have the hardware when they release the software that fully utilizes it

Really this phone could be out anywhere between now and June Noone knows. I'm going to sit back and wait for it. If it doesn't come out until June makes my choices easy

This phone is coming out in a tight spot. It's coming out when Gingerbread is rolling out, honeycomb is right around the corner, the new Sense which the US has not seen an official release for yet, and dual core processors. All this and LTE. It's likely that this phone will miss all of that unless they do hold off until a Summer release.

That Q2 release date pushed me to get the Droid Incredible. Bought a used one on ebay cause it didn't make any sense wasting my upgrade when there are new phones & technology on the horizon. I really wanted the Dinc HD to be my first Android phone, but I can't go another few months with this Storm2.

Am I mistaken or if HTC waits till June for a release that it will be over a year with no Sprint / Verizon HTC phones being released?? That can't be good for the bottom line. I would think that they would want to get something out in the market asap.

I would think their trying to get this out asap. A june launch wouldn't be good for them especially when you have impatient people like me. Feb-mar launch would be good with me much past that I will look elsewhere. I'm loyal to nothing when it comes to phones or os

Best Buy and other indirects have been running the original DINC for free almost a month now.Verizon seems to be really making an effort to blow out inventory to clear the way for something........:D

I'm in the same boat. I have patiently waited for BlackBerry to get off the arse and hustle up an up to date device. (DREAMING) :p
I have made my mind up on the DInc HD after reviewing the Desire HD and having said that I made my mind up to make the DInc HD my first Android device.
But I have digressed to buying a slightly used DInc to avoid burning an upgrade on a device that with be out of date within months or maybe less than that.

By the way....Awesome site...
Really looking forward to contributing to the forums.

Guess we're both jumping off bbos. Android is way ahead of BB in terms of hardware & software, I couldn't hold out any longer.

Calm Down Everyone

Come back in six months...

Read it and weep.

Engadget printed the full quote here: HTC's Peter Chou says LTE handsets are coming next year, and the world keeps on spinning -- Engadget

Q: When does HTC plan to launch an LTE device, and which markets do you think will be the early adopters of that device?

A: We are working on LTE device for next year, 2011, we think the US mobile operator will be taking some leading and pushing the LTE 4G in the US market, but however, we are seeing the rest of world will be deploying LTE network elsewhere in 2011. Could be second half of 2011.

You can read this a few ways...I read it that he is saying US Market is leading with LTE and the rest of the world is coming in 2nd half o 2011.

From what I have heard HTC is very far along is testing LTE handsets. However the one that appears to be coming first is the Merge. But I think the Mecha will be announced at CES and in market before May.

The only thing you can get from that article is that LTE is coming in 2011. Nowhere does anyone say it will come in Q1 or Q2 of 2011.

CES is a few weeks away, and if Verizon fails to make their LTE announcements regarding their plans then we will know the turkey is overdone and won't be suitable to eat.

More like it will be a huge battery drain like the wimax radio. I hope not but its kinda inevitable with new tech

Exactly, not really concerned about LTE for now. Really just want an EVO-sized HTC Android device for Verizon and the DINC HD fits the bill.

If you are talking about Dual Core The Battery life is suppose to be better and compete with the likes of Iphone 4.

I got this from an article that I read that explains how it works...

It's pretty complicated and there are multiple factors that go into power consumption. Power consumption increases linearly with frequency, but with the square of voltage. You generally up the voltage when you increase frequency so the power increases exponentially with clock cycle. Therefore, two cores running at 750Mhz can draw less power total than one at 1500MHz. Where it gets complicated is in layout of the processor. Smaller traces between transistors and smaller feature size help to reduce power consumption. I can reduce power by more efficiently routing the traces. I can also reduce power by manufacturing at 28nm instead of 45nm. You'll find both situations to be the case with dual core manufacturing. You can't just double the surface area of the chip and expect phone manufacturers to make room when they're making phones thinner and thinner and incorporating more extras (NFC, 4G radios, etc). They go through some sort of shrink to try and mitigate the addition of a whole extra core.
