HTC Incredible on VZ

N1 is history. And looks like Google doesn't much care.

Yup, as I keep saying, Google might as well just take Verizon off their website. Won't do much good whenever the little circle shows up. Mediocre sales at best. And those will be the "true" geeks that are just Googlefans. The "average" Smartphone consumer can give a rats a$$ about the N1 and will always choose the INC over N1 since it will be in stores to look at and play with.
In these economic days, spending $199+ for a phone is going to make people think twice about just wingin' it to buy a phone. Google's $500+ price is just laughable.

Been nice knowin' ya Google! ;)

True about a good use of the 'Droid' catch word, but I thought every Droid commercial starts out with a picture of the actual Moto Droid phone, so I don't think any previous/current ads will work. I may stand corrected, but I know the latest Moto Droid ad with the "earth" as all the app images definitely can't just be re-used.
No biggie, just sayin'....

That's true, all the Droid commercial do have actually Moto Droid on it. However, if you remember, before they released Moto Droid, they did big campaign about Droid does. They never showed actually Moto Droid. Maybe they can use that for a week or two before the release of HTC Droid Incredible, hehe.

Google doesn't lose at all, unless you decide on a non-Android phone. All they care about is that they get people storing their data in the Google cloud, using Google apps and being Googlers through and through. What device you use is inconsequential to them, that's why they give the software away for free.

I think im sold on switching from my Blackberry Storm 2 to the Incredible. Sweeeeet looking phone!

I think this is the reason why they are keeping Droid name front of Incredible. Verizon built up the name Droid, money well spend. Now, every other android will carry the name Droid, it's much easier to advertise. Hell, they can even use old commercial.

that's correct, the droid moniker is used by verizon to label all their android handsets, so anything that comes out on verizon (aside from the nexus one, since it is sold, distributed, and marketed by google) with android will be a droid something or another.

the motorola droid being named the same thing was a bit confusing, but for the average user, i think verizon has the right idea here, as people will see the ads and go into a vzw store and ask to see a droid phone, from there a cs rep can show them their options and help them get the right phone for them (ideally :p)

droid incredible doesn't quite roll of the tongue as nicely as something with less syllables though, but whatever :)

What about the Motorola Devour?? They don't call it the Droid Devour. :)

Well, sold all of my phones so I can buy the Incredible when released on the 29th. Get this, I went to a Verizon Retail Store in my town and the guy let me buy a Droid Eris on my credit card knowing full welll that I was going to buy the Incredible and return the Eris with no restock fee. He actually took my number to call me when they get them in stock and he confirmed to me that it would be the 29th barring any screwups. Forget the Nexus, this phone from HTC is going to be pretty darn sweet.

Did he happen to tell you the retail price w/o contract?

No he did not. I would bet that it's going to be what the Motorola Droid was when it was launched. Thats just my guess.

With the cash from my Pre and Droids being sold, I will have enough for even the highest of two year costs.

How can it be a google experience device AND have sense?

It "could" be that Sense UI can be disabled leaving behind the Google's Android interface. In the specs that were "leaked" yesterday, from what "appeared" to be a Verizon staging site, the specs mentioned that the Incredible also supported OTA Updates from Google. I also wonder if the "next" Generation Sense UI in the Incredible is the same/similar version to the one released with the Desire ROM that was ported to the Nexus One.

that is odd, i didn't think of that phone for some reason. maybe some bizarro thing with motorola :p

Could it be that the devour and Eris dont have the droid subname because they run sense UI and Motoblur? Thus not giving the real "google experinece", but rather the sense/blur experience. Which is why VZW combined the two names with the Droid Incedible? Maybe it can be turned off?

Also, I would rather have it be the incredible Droid. ;)

The Eris is a Droid. The Verizon Droid Eris. ;)

this.

and the eris is a google experience phone. apparantly what makes a phone that is having unrestricted access to the market, and google apps preloaded on it.

ie, the backflip on att is not a google experience phone

I have my update ready and my 100.00 credit. Does that mean that my Incredible will be and Incredible 99.00?
;)
