HTC Incredible vs. Motorola Droid Xtreme

I'm not getting any new phone. My upgrade is in 7 months but 2.2 has just about everything I want now so I could care less about new phones.

And what makes Sense more polished than stock? I've never used Sense so I don't know. But some people stated that Launcher Pro adds a Sense-like experience. Everything is just as quick and snappy as on the Incredible and my Droid isn't even overclocked.

I think 2.2 pretty much finished a lot of the kinks left with 2.1. Stock 2.1 was okay but definitely needed some improvement and all of that seems to be fixed with 2.2. Add a custom launcher to that and it's even better. I think your opinion on stock would change if you used a Droid running 2.2.

Either way, we have varieties so it's all good.

I've used a Nexus One, so I'm sure it is at least comparable.

And yes, 2.2 feels much more finished than any other version of Android.

But it still lacks some of the eye candy that users have come to expect from OS's like webOS and iOS.

But you are right. Variety is what makes Android so unique. Personally, I'm waiting for a root to throw 2.2 on the thing. But I still feel that Sense UI is better for normal consumers.

To each his/her own.

It makes perfect sense. There's an AMOLED shortage.
Droid Incredible confirmed to be suffering from AMOLED shortage -- Engadget

And yes, the Incredible is selling well just like the Droid. And from the looks of it, HTC phones always seem to have issues (N1 = multi-touch issue, Incredible = reception/battery issue, EVO = WIFI bug).

The Motorola devices are built a lot better. Also, the Xtreme, Droid 2, and Droid Pro are all looking pretty nice. While I dislike MotoBlur, the Xtreme will run a different version of it not yet seen so we can't be quick to judge on that. But I could care less about that.

But what really looks to be the killer device is the Droid Pro. It'll have a 2GHz (OMAP or AC) processor, a 4.3 inch screen, stock Android (running 3.0 aka Gingerbread), and much more. It's supposed to release at the end of the year, right before my annual upgrade date. That phone looks to be the one to steal the Droid's thrown.

I prefer Motorola's high end stock Android devices to any of HTC's. The only HTC Android I would want would be the N1 because it runs stock Android but I could care less about any 3rd party skins like Blur or Sense UI. That's not the real Android experience.

He was saying you make no sense because you said both the Evo and the Inc have AMOLED screens. Which is false. I also don't think any of us are worried about a device that has no definite specs (Droid Pro) stealing any "thrown". I think the Incredible is sitting perfect well on the throne now and will be for quite a while. (Dictionary.com is in the Android Market-it's free)

Would you like to have one of the fastest Android phones today? Or wait till tomorrow for the same thing to happen to it a few months after release. Don't wait on another ship because everyone else is enjoying their vacation. Another boat always comes along a few weeks later.

Which is why I'll always wait till my upgrade date to decide whether I wanna buy a new phone at the time or not. I think every phone that falls and dishes out money for every newly released gadget are suckers.

Well depends on if they realize what they are doing. Before I bought my Storm I normally kept my phones up until they failed me or my contract was up. But 12 months into a 24 months contract this phone came up and I wanted to ditch my blackberry BAD. So I took the hit and upgraded. But unless something astonishing comes along that really blows this phone out of the water completely I'll hang on to it until my NE2 is up again. Realistically I'm going to wait for the dual core stuff to start coming out.

So are they suckers? Some of them are, but then again some of them are like me and are gadgets freaks and love having the latest and greatest, well within reason. Like I wouldn't go out chomping at the bit to get an EVO or Droid2/Xtreme/Shadow or whatever the heck else is coming out.

Exactly, and someone who things the EVO has an AMOLED screen?? Well, I think that just says enough.

Right now, the Incredible is the benchmark and it doesn't seem like that is going to change anytime soon. The EVO4 and Xtreme have some features that will appeal to some buyers, but for the average consumer, the Sense UI cannot be beat and the HTC Incredible is the phone.

OK, so the Motorola wins the ugly award. LOL

Other comparison factors?

I agree I think the motorola Is ugly My sister's husband has a motorola droid and I did not like it (its not the new one you mentioned but they look about the same i think ,lol):p

To each their own. I'm absolutely content with my Droid running on 2.2. But nobody can deny that the Droid is the most popular Android phone around. Developers are supporting it more than any other Android phone (besides the N1). This is one of the reasons I'll consider stock devices over 3rd party skinned ones.

I respect your opinion saying that Stock is superior to Sense UI. However, keep in mind that for the regular consumers, Sense UI remains to be the 'complete' and 'polished' Android experience. I suggest you should go and listen to the Android Central Writer's Roundtable Podcast on the DROID Incredible, and listen to their thoughts about Sense UI. Very true.

I understand your comparison to the iPhone, though you are somewhat wrong. I've used all generations of the iPod touch, and the hardware is all roughly similar. Not so for Android. You say the biggest factor of fragmentation is the skins, but I disagree. I think it is the hardware. The HTC Hero on Sprint can hardly be compared to the DROID Incredible, though it is running Sense UI on top of Android 2.1. The hardware is inferior.

Technology moves, and Android stays with it. Motorola says it wants a 2GHz phone out, but the fact is that batteries suffer under the current 1GHz Snapdragon. So while I'm sure that it is possible to have a 2GHz chip in a phone, how will the battery be?

My point is that Stock has things missing, or has areas that still feel 'rough' and somewhat unfinished. Competing against the iPhone OS (which is truly beautiful in terms of ease-of-use and simplicity), that just doesn't work. HTC has done a marvelous job of fixing those areas, and adding some eye-candy everywhere else.

But congratulations on your soon-to-be DROID Pro/2. I'm sure it will be a great phone.

Now why did you go doing that?????:confused::confused:

HTC Incredible all the way. Sense UI makes up for a lot in the already great Android OS. And I only need three ways to enter my text.... none of them require a keyboard. Sense Touch, Swype, Google Voice search....

This thread is funny. why do people feel the need to be apologists when it comes to phones? None are worse than iphone users.

You are all in denial if you think the Droid X won't be the hottest Android phone out in the market once its released. I think the Incredible will just be a blip on the radar and the X will be the must have phone.

The Incredible will appeal to women who want a small chic iphone like device. Nothing gets me angrier or more dismayed when showing off the Incredible and iphoners respond by saying 'oh it's like my iphone'.

I personally want a more manly device and happy with any shape that distinguishes it from the iphone. I detest anyone making the claim my phone looks like an iphone clone.

i wouldnt say its a chick phone at all. I dont want something bigger than the Inc either. the newer phones are getting too big to be practical for some uses

There are actually supposed to be around 50 Android devices releasing this year.

And I agree, the Xtreme looks like a nice device - better than the Incredible with its specs.

And three months later, the Droid X will be leap-frogged by another HTC phone (quite possibly the DROID Incredible's successor).

You are in denial if you think that that won't happen. It is called technology.

I heard about the rumored HTC Scorpion with the 1.5GHz processor. I wonder how it will stack against the Droid Pro with the 2GHz processor and NVIDIA Tegra GPU. ;)
Motorola planning a 2GHz Android superphone ? Boy Genius Report

But did you hear about the phone that HTC will release around the time Motorola releases that?

Of course not. Just because HTC doesn't go around flaunting something that may/may not be currently doable, doesn't mean they aren't actively looking into it.

My point, don't compare phones that are released 4 months (or more!) apart. With Android, it doesn't work.

Furthermore, if these high-end devices are running MotoBlur... Well yeah, let's just hope that Motorola can mop that mess up into something useful. I've yet to meet one person who actually needs that much social networking integration. And yes, Sense UI integrates well with social networks. Well enough for me, and I consider myself to be fairly heavy into social networking.

No, but he does think the EVO4 is AMOLED so what does that tell you?

The comparisons this one tries to make are just out in left field. He still things the Droid is superior to the Incredible and it has better UI than than Sense UI. Go figure! :D
