Htc Inspire sideload update!!!!

not trying to sound like an a$$ but why are their post about the experience posted about when they talk to a rep. and how bad att is?

other ? is, is this update for 2.2.1 or is it for all software on phones?
 
Called again last night. At first the rep had no idea what I was talking about. But he did get a tech on the phone who first said it was an HTC update. After I explained to him what it was, he understood and found the xdm link to send it to my phone. He called back a couple hours later and said they were trying to push it to my phone. Kept my Wifi on all night, but no update yet.

It's now been about six phone calls and a couple chats. At least now I'm getting people that know about the update and they are trying to send it. My last three calls, they reps have tried to send it; so there's been some progress on their end. Hopefully, the next couple days I'll get it.
 
Just keep restarting your phone every couple of hours during the day because it won't be an actual update that you will be able to see.
 
So first I called att and got tier 2 tech support and the lady was very helpful. Didnt know what I was talking about at first, but then she did some searching and found the update information. She sent a request to the PMC dept to have the update pushed to my wife's phone. That was last week. Nothing. No update yet. So yesterday I got on chat support and the dude on there knew right away what I was talking about and said he would help me get this update. He verified my account info. Then.....after looking at the "software version" of the phone he said the update cannot be pushed to the old software. Said I must have the latest software update. Which I do! I have android software version 2.2.1. There must be something wrong with their system saying that this phone is not fully updated. I confirmed with him that I was looking at my phones system info and AM UPDATED! He said he would have it pushed to the phone anyways, but it wont work on older software versions. You must have 2.2 or higher. WTF??? I stayed cool and thanked him for his help. He said give it 24-48 hours. I asked if I had to turn the phone off and then back on. He said that I would get a notification on the phone. So yeah....we will see. This whole update is so rediculous! For such a small update, it sure is a pain in the a$$!! All my wife wants is freaking SWYPE! I know I can use the SWM, done that before. I just want the official update. Could there be something blocking the update since I used the SWM before to install Swype?? Anyways. Good luck to us all who havent recieved it yet. Im sure they are slammed with people requesting this tiny little update. Atleast now more of the ATT techs know what we are talking about. SAD.
 
Just did the chat. First thing I put in was an explanation that I had not received the update that enables installing from unknown sources and requested that it manually be pushed to me via the xbm tool. Five minutes later, while still on chat, it showed up in my menu. At this point, I believe if you haven't received it, AT&T may not know it, so you may need to let them know.

*I did not have to restart. Suddenly, it was just there.

I keep getting a box pop up that says Info Complete Setup? Yes or No. I have been hitting Yes, but nothing happens. Any idea if this has to do with the update?

Did you look under settings\applications after you hit YES? Is there a "unknown sources" checkbox??
 
Still no update.........

Called yesturday they tryed to push the update threw, but with no luck, called to day again they tryed to push it threw again but again it failed, they said they were gonna put me on a list and to give them till next week, they said there having trouble with some of the phones and cant push the update, I already gave up, guess updates aint comming threw here in SA, TX.

Ive been clicking yes for the past day and a half and nothing happens. I reboot and it comes up again. I hit yes, I go and look at the applications and there is nothing extra there.

I think that is odd. I didn't get any text, email, pop up, nor had to restart. The chat rep just told me to go look for it in the settings menu and it was there without any interaction on my part.

When I try to see what Info would be or anything nothing shows up. I guess maybe I should jump on chat again and see whats up.
 
So im trying to get on chat for att, but this new website says "log in/register" and everytime i do that and go back to it it tells me the same thing.

Cant even chat now :[
 
Just got off the phone with AT&T, update pushed to my phone. I am now playing Pac Man the free app of the day through Amazon App Store!

I keep having the same issue. Im calling now. I will let them know their new site sucks.

same exact thing for the last couple days ( been trying to get it for a week now) i click yes i wait an hour in case its downloading and then reboot my phone wait and turn it back on and nothing. it comes up randomly, like i have the feeling they are pushing something to my phone but maybe my service sucks or something.

also i opened a "case" with their highest support i guess and am suppose to be called in about an hour.

to be honest im starting to think that they use their support team to try to drain as much minutes as possible. ive gotten 1-2 calls a day which im happy to be helped but out of the 2+ hours on the phone im probably only talking to the guy for 15 minutes

Wait, are you checking in Settings>Applications or just looking under Applications? You need to be checking in Settings.
 
Just spent over an hour on the phone with ATT support, and no go. I told them about the OTA update for sideloading apps, access the XDM Tool, 3rd party apps, etc. Lady put me on hold for a while and finally got someone else on the line. This guy said that knew all about it, and has read the various android forums, but he told me that neither ATT nor HTC has told anyone in tech support about it. He said that there is no way for them to push the update, that you get it at random and that I just have to wait for it.

I have been trying to log into the chat function on the ATT website, and it appears to be down.

So, I guess I just keep waiting for now...
 
Found out u need to tell first rep to transfer u to Business Data Support Dept and hit option 2. Nice lady started push soon as i said unknown sources option on my htc aria.

Still waiting. I had a bad imei apparently :/
