HTC Merge delayed -- to get LTE?

i spoke to an HTC rep and he told me that it was canceled...not too sure what to think about this news

Phil-is there any possibility that the unit you got your hands on had LTE, and just didn't have a finalized ROM to show it?

Entirely possible. I don't recall seeing any LTE settings anywhere, though (not that there would have been a signal to use them).

HTC is telling everyone different thing so they could post it online and then all of the sudden its going pop up hence the name Merge. just you wait and see. they called me crazy, but i'll show them crazy ... muahahha!

It goes along with their "what the hell are you talking about" response to the Merge/Dinc typo. It's all coming together!

Hmmm...Merge...Mer...myrrh...it'll be out by Christmas! lol

yah, it sounds like my story... had lg dare broke about 3 weeks ago.. so im on an original lg chocolate that freezes everytime you open it.. this phone better come out very soon

Our good friend who started this whole thing by tweeting it was delayed still thinks we will see it in January.... hmmmmmmmmm. i dont believe anyeone anymore. Until i am at verizon, playing with the demo. i will not believe its out!

Well, my story's a lot like some of yours...I've been waiting for this phone since Sept and am stuck on an aging Storm 1.

I can't wait until '11 for a new phone, so I guess I go Droid 2 Global and see what drops next year (though I'll probably be looking for clever ways to "upgrade" at < 2yrs from all of you).

Of course, if this does emerge within 30days I'll be back there to check the phone out and maybe upgrade with the 30day "guarantee"! (That's always a PITA, but if the kbd is that much better I think I'd do it.)

Going to the local VZW store in an hour. Will report back if I hear anything; but since the phone isn't on the website, I highly doubt it's released today at any rate.

So... I'm guessing it's pushed back to the 23rd? I haven't heard of anyone getting a merge yet...-please don't let the merge be pushed back to 2011

Edit: Wait... Didn't AC report about HTC Merge accessories being stocked at Verizon stores? If the Merge was to be pushed back to Q1/Q2 2011, why would they put the accessories in their stores now? I could see it still being pushed back if it was just amazon, similar to how many people speculated that the 3rd Gen iPod touch would have cameras.

I agree w/ Spartan that it won't be pushed to 2011 if accessories are in the stores. Why pay taxes on all that inventory when there is no chance of moving it? Makes no sense. Nevertheless, my patience has worn and I'm off to grab a D2G. If the merge comes out w/in 30 days and is worth whatever Big Red will ding me to return the D2G, then I'll make the switch.

Well, the VZW reps were thoroughly versed in the latest equipment.

When I asked the guy everyone else pointed to as the "lead techie in the store", "When do we expect the Merge?" He replied, "The merger? With who?" (no lie)

So I asked where the D2G was, and he wandered around the store until he realized that their in-store launch had not occurred yet.

So I bit the bullet and ordered the D2G online and if the Merge shows-up in the next 30 days I'll go check it out. But I'm happy to finally be getting off of my Storm 1. Was a grand idea, RIM, but it never lived up to all my expectations.

FWIW: I did not see any Merge accessories in the store. Plenty of iPad cases!

Well if the report of Merge accessories are true, it could be that they're in storage. Maybe it really is coming later this month.

I'm still holding out hope that this will be pre-Xmas release. There are some monster phones coming out in the near future, but this is still the one that I want.

I know someone that is a beta tester for Verizon, the Merge is in fact delayed! I pretty much trust what he says, he's been smack on with the release of every phone he has shown me in the last 2 years. He's using the merge as his daily device right now, and said its decent as far as he can see. However his unit has been having some serious GPS issues, and the battery has be less then steller. I held it for a few minutes and played around with it, and I'll say it feels super solid, has some heft to it, it has a slide similar to the Moto Droid series phones, (no G2 hinge crap) keyboard feels great, 2.2 is very zippy on it, however one thing that striked me was the screen! Not in an impressive way either, the colors just didn't pop at all while using it at even the highest setting. It may be I'm just used to my Fascinates Super Amoled, or the incredibles Amoled. But in any event, it just struck me as a little dull, the screen that is! Everything else looked great as far as build quality. Much better built then the incredible or even the EVO! I'll snap, and post some pics when I see him over the weekend.
