The ones in the stores will be carrier versions, locked to them and with whatever bloatware they want to add. Why not just wait a few more days for the unlocked one that was ordered?

Not to mention, it was pretty much understood by the general public that November 6 would be the ship date. We don't really expect a company to outright and say "we absolutely positively promise our dear customers that November 6 will be the ship date". However, given the numerous sources that marked November 6th as original ship date, i'd say they let down a lot of customers. They had so many chances to inform their customers prior to day zero.
So apparently the A9 has shipped... except HTC doesn't even know. I just received a call from FedEx, notifying me that I have a package that will be delivered tomorrow that requires a signature. I'm not expecting anything (besides this phone), so I called HTC and asked if it had shipped. They told me no.
So I called FedEx and asked for more information on the package and it's from "BrightPoint Inc". According to Wikipedia, they are "a provider of "wireless device lifecycle services", specializing in the distribution of wireless devices and in providing customized logistics services to the wireless industry." - hxxps://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BrightPoint
If that's not enough, this press release talks about the two companies working together to deliver wireless devices: hxxp://investors.htc.com/phoenix.zhtml?c=148697&p=irol-newsArticle&ID=1710229
So yeah... it's not 100% proof, but I'm pretty sure I'm getting my phone tomorrow. *shrug*

I have not received anything from HTC today except an email to fill out a survey about the phone call I made to them last week.

Lucky you. Where are you located? I am in Austin Tx and I did ask for 2 day shipping since it was only $5.99 more.
I'm in Omaha. I paid for the overnight shipping (next business day). Pre-ordered on Nov. 2nd.
I also got the shipping notification today for my unlocked carbon grey A9. Excited!
What's with the X9 rumors, they better be false or I'm going to be seriously pissed.

An updated leak on the X9 debunks the first set of specs and now lists it as a lower to mid level phone. Who knows of course since this is such a new listing.

Received a HTC email shipping confirmation 3 hours ago. I ordered 2 day shipping. It will arrive Wednesday 
As I posted in another forum you can't rely on early leaks. The early specs for the A9 were "high end" with the Snapdragon 820 chip being mentioned frequently, even though it wasn't going to be available by the time the A9 was being released. And still the rumors persisted that's what the A9 was going to have. The rumors tend to be pretty accurate close to product release.
I got an email from HTC telling me my phone is out of stock and on back order. Previously, I'd received an email saying my phone would be shipping early December. I am assuming this second email is the system generated message that churns out and I should still be receiving notice in early December that my phone has shipped.
Ordered November 5th.
Got an email on the 6th saying: "Your order of the Opal Silver HTC One A9 will begin shipping on 11/10 based on shipping method"
Got an email on the 9th saying: "Unfortunately, one or more of the products you ordered is currently out of stock and could not be shipped. The product(s) has been placed on backorder and will be shipped as soon as stock becomes available."
Got an email on the 10th stating the phone shipped on the 9th.
Phone will be here tomorrow, inshallah.

Thinking to get an unlocked Topaz gold... Any suggestion on color.. Anyone ordered? As well, will there be a local tax added extra to what HTC charge.. I live at Dallas.
First, I was charged tax on mine, though I don't live in TX. My guess is tax is charged for all states.
As far as color, it depends on how quickly you want to get it. I've ordered the red and won't be shipped till early December. Maybe give them a call to find out which colors are in stock for shipping.
