HTC One Battery Life/Stats Discussion

Thanks - I was worried about it haha. Guess I should use it less for more battery life or buy a external battery :)

At that time, my screen setting was at the lowest possible since it was pretty late. Does rooting your phone help your battery? 0_o
Plus your battery last ages! When you use your phone, do you tend to use it continuously? I'm on my phone a lot, so when I do use my phone, I use it for hours on end without breaks lol. But, yeah judging from my screenshots, what would you say is the problem, my way of using the phone or the battery? I'll upload screenshots of the new stats later on. Cheers again!

Dude, my best hours is 54 hours with 4.5 hours screen on time. What kind of app have you been using? Gaming? GPS? If you use those kind of apps, even though your screen on time is short, they still used a lot of battery. I just used my GPS for an hour and now my phone has only 4% battery left with 38.5 hours battery life only.
I don't think rooting will help you to increase your battery life, but some ROM does. The one that I'm using (ARHD 12.1) has a feature of increasing battery life, if you are interested, feel free to take a look a it. Also, deleting Facebook seems help a bit with the battery life.

54?! That's the thing I'm confused about though, I don't use my phone for gaming or GPS. I mainly use it for listening to music & browsing the internet - that's why I was worried there was something wrong with my battery as it doesn't seem to last long. I'll check it out & delete some apps like Facebook.

I might have to ring up HTC and see if they can replace the battery. Although I heard that it's non replaceable?

But once again, thank you lol

It is sort of... kinda replaceable.... But ifixit only gave it 1/10.... A normal unrooted HTC One without power saving on should be about to do 24-40 hours depending on the screen on time, the more the screen on time, the less battery life it has... So, charge your phone to 100%, delete Facebook app, turn off power saving, turn the brightness to auto or 30-50% manually. You should be able to get 3-4 hours screen on time with 15-30 hours battery life. If your phone cannot reach this range, you might have a defective battery.

I figured I average about 16 hours on my one. I have a rotation of 5 games I check on regularly through out the day. The usual web browsing, twitter, instagram and tumblr. Also use whatsapp quite a bit. So I use my phone a lot. I usually have my brightness set for 85%. I decided to use power saver for a full cycle and I'm on 1 day and 3 hours at 17% left.

Hello guys,
i have my htc for 10 days and today I experienced a bizarre behaviour. I was charging it and it went from 83% to 100% in 5 minutes. I restarted the phone, and the battery percentage went to 85%... This happened in the morning.

At night, I used the phone a lot (3d games etc) and the battery dropped to 30% so i plugged it in. it took about 1h and 40 mins and it reached 80%. then i took about 20-25 mins to reach 83% and then after a couple of minutes it went to 100% and led green. I decided to switch it off and plug it in again. The led went orange for a while (5-8 mins) and then green again. I restarted the phone and the battery was to 100%.

Is my battery a faulty on or do I just need some calibration? if the latter is the deal, how do i do this?

Regards

My HTC one took 5 hours 40 minutes to charge from 0 to 100 is that normal

I just installed GSam Battery. Is anyone kind enough to help guide me through the process of check that nothing is out of the ordinary? What pics you guys need to see - new on smartphones, new on android sorry.

This is after second full charge. Any suggestions, how does it look ? I guess the held awake time is high.

First day (Screen shot not attached) I got about 4 hours screen time but total only 15 hr usage (plugged out in morning 8 am, went back on charger at 11 pm @ 25%).

I guess it helps to come from HTC inspire, everything looks better :).

I have GSam, no google now, using power save mode. Facebook app installed but hopefully not syncing, I hate the fact that FB pics can start showing up in my gallery.

This is my best usage, it was a little while ago so I'll try my best to remember the settings. I use NFC tags which may or may not make a difference. Basically at home I have wifi on with auto-sync every hour, brightness down to around 20%. When I'm out, wifi turns off, brightness turns to auto, auto sync off (but I usually check my emails every now and then) and I use WCDMA only. Anyway here is a screenshot of it. (The power saver mode came on automatically at 15%, it is never usually on though). https://www.dropbox.com/sc/ero7l9q4pz7tg8s/oknCp4Li4c

I have personally found the facebook app uses a bit of battery in the background, even without opening it. I have deleted the app and now use Facebook through the web browser (I use boat browser). GSam is a good app, I also use BetterBatteryStats which is good for finding the wakelocks that keep the phone awake, as well as Wakelock Detector which gives you a good idea of which app is the trouble app. I've found 4+ hour on screen time is where you want to be (obviously changes with brightness etc.)

Used my camera for 3 hours and took 116 photos.Battery was 98% when started using camera and went totally dead after 116 photos.Very disappointing!Camera is on auto with touch to capture ,geo tagging enabled and auto upload off.Is this normal?

This is proof of carriers affecting battery life! I have been experiencing bad battery drain when on standby and I have postulated that my carrier choice (Airtel in Tanzania) and the constant switching between E,3G & H and generally mediocre signal quality (not signal strength) was the reason my battery life was not more than 13/14 hours with 3 - 3.5 hours screen on time. Generally, even in standby it would drain annoyingly as you can see from the first three attached pics.
Well today I switched carriers to Vodacom (A subsidiary of Vodafone) and well, you can see the difference from the attached screen shots! The battery drain is significantly reduced and when I actually left the phone alone for long periods of time, it would drain only 1% per hour! I am quite pleased as you can imagine and I think I shouldn't have any trouble with the phone now lasting 15/16 hours with the same amount of screen time as before!

My HTC one takes FOREVER to recharge.
Using an electrical output it takes about 1hr to charge 15-20% and when I use my laptop to charge the phone it takes about 1hr to charge 7-10%.
I've had the phone for 2 weeks now.

I've had my One for about a month, Sprint is my carrier. Throughout that month my battery life has been horrendous to say the least. On very rare occasions I have had some 13 hour days, other days the phone barely lasts about 7 hours. I've basically been tied to a wall outlet whenever possible, and I really don't want to do that. I'm a moderate to heavy user with Twitter, Feedly, Spotify (mainly from a downloaded to device playlist), and some browsing on Chrome. I read through this thread and have started using Power Saver on a constant basis, and have disabled the Facebook application. I have downloaded Wakelock Detector and am beginning to realize I have pretty bad Wakelock problems. I haven't downloaded DS Battery or any of those other utilities yet. Can anyone give me any suggestions to improve my battery life?

I am charging my phone at the moment, I will update this post with screenshots when I get back from work tonight.

Same here. I took yesterday some pics and videos and after 2 and half hours of screen on time (outside bright sun) the phone was at 15%.
