Well ok, I'll give you that one . I couldn't for the life of me seem to get the entire rainbow in the shot like you did!

I was in a big parking lot and luckily I had plenty of room to move backwards to be able to take the entire rainbow.

america's cutest anarchist.

i set the HTC camera to square because it's easier to upload to instagram, and i learned photography using a 6x6 rolleiflex (film).

Does anyone else have this issue. Seems like the flash only really "lights up" one side of what it's taking a picture of. As you can see in both photos the light is more evident on the left side of the photo. Can anyone else confirm that this happens with their camera as well.

I too am having problems with the flash. I was trying to take photos of my baby cousin in pretty dark conditions. I set the flash to be on and tapped to focus on her face. This is what I ended up with. I tried multiple times and even tried focusing on the background but they all ended up blown out. I thought the One was meant to automatically adjust flash brightness so I'm quite confused.

Does anyone know what was going on?

i hope this doesn't sound snarky, but the flash is on one side of the camera (in 'landscape' mode). shoot in 'portrait' mode if you want the flash more centered (but it's still slightly off axis).

i think you are asking too much from your phone's camera. i don't know how iphones or other androids compare, but i think your flash did fine under the circumstances. if you look at your baby cousin's torso, she's actually properly exposed. her face, in photographic terms, is probably a stop or two lighter. if you went in for a close-up, it might have been better exposed. but i think it is close enough, and i imagine an app like PIXLR EXPRESS (i have only tried pixlr and snapseed so far) would give you the adjustments to 'fix' it. even my high-end film cameras have trouble with auto exposure in conditions this dark.

I'd suggest trying a shot like this in HDR mode. I've had better result shooting photos that have extreme contrasts (lighter subject, darker background and vice versa) with HDR. It's worth a shot...

No I definitely understand what you ads saying and I yes I know the flash is in one side of the camera. But, I also had Evo 4G and Evo 3D and their flash was also on the same side of the camera and it never had this issue. The reason I was posting was to see if anyone else out there had noticed this

again, not trying to sound snarky...but i don't see the issue in the examples you posted. in the top image of the bar cart, there appears to be slightly more fall off on the camera right side of the picture. but overall both pictures look fine to me. of course, art is entirely subjective and what i find acceptable you may hate. do you still have the other phones? can you post a side by side comparison?
