What version of the HTC One do you have? M7 or M7WLS?

Get the directory of the adb files again and do the cmd prompt thing again like we did before. Drag the recovery.img in the folder as well. If you want, you can even rename the recovery file "recovery.img" to make it easier.

it gives me a HT39 number which im guessing its connected to my phone

Make sure your phone is connected and in fastboot. Type "fastboot flash recovery recovery.img" in the command prompt. Once it has finished flashing (The cmd should let you know), type "fastboot oem boot" to reboot your phone.

Ok typed it in an pressed enter an it says ''finished'' with other text etc
