HTC One Fall From Roller Coaster. Pictures inside. 20ft, 50mph.

While impressive, this is still as significant as a drop test from 4 feet where the speaker grill comes off and the screen shatters. You can't predict this stuff. Anything can happen on any fall.

Mine fell from waist height and the screen cracked consider yourself very lucky!

I was one who made that claim. I would like to point out that they could have changed adhesives, or could have changed the application methodology.

More likely I think - and I'm surprised this possibility didn't pop into your head - is that this fall didn't land on the edge at an angle that would tend to put the adhesive into peel or sheer stress. Maybe it landed in such a way that the gouging force was pushing the grill into place.

I'm not trying to continue my argument that the grills are inadequately glued on. For all I know HTC has addressed that. I'm just pointing out that the gouges on this phone don't prove anything.

Or you were just wrong, which is the most likely option.

You got damned lucky
I was at Silver Dollar City in Branson Missouri last Sunday And My 3 week old HTC One Slipped Out of my pocket while I was on the Roller coaster Wildfire. I am pretty sure I Know the exact moment It made it's escape from my pocket, I was at least 15 to 20 feet in the air doing around 45 to 50 MPH. It was in a ziploc bag with a Paper towel. The phone is fully functional and only has cosmetic damage. I am VERY Impressed with the build quality. Thank you HTC for making such an amazing phone!
Please Ignore the yellowish hue to the white parts of the phone, I wash and stain decks for work and that's all the yellow is...

Well, I did pointedly clarify that the grills were inadequately glued IF you consider them popping off from a four foot drop unacceptable. As a position to be taken depending on one's opinion of quality expectations, I don't see how it can be wrong.

Wow, very impressed. Like others, I'm very surprised that the impact didn't cause damage to the screen. Must have hit the ground at the right angle to not cause that type of damage and the rest of the device help up like a champ.

Except this users phone proves you wrong. As with anything of this sort, how the fall occurred matters. The speakers were not inadequately glued on.

So yes, you were wrong.

You don't agree that an allowance for the angle of impact, the slight protection this phone had, or the fact that my claim was based on personal expectations is justifiable? I was just flat wrong and that's it? The grill that did pop off isn't equally as valid sample as this one?

Yes, you were wrong. Flat out, no questions asked, wrong. You claimed the glue was wither defective or inadequate, which is not supported by any facts any where. So yes, you were wrong.

Well okay then. I appreciate the clarity.

I've owned two HTC phones, and I do have to say that the build quality is awesome. I enjoyed both phones, but decided to take a jump over to Samsung to try something new.

It is impressive how all it really has is a little dent. Wow.

Yeah yeah, great. The real question should be how did you get your username changed? There aren't that many girls on this site, so the odds of having two named Tania? Too large to measure.

Taniabonita52 and Taniapomales are me. I used to have an account before under taniabonita52...

I logged on using Facebook for a while and then I also logged onto the ipad forums, but for some reason I had to go through the other login process and that's how my username changed. I noticed the name change right away and thought it was weird, too.

Just dropped mine from 18 inches and it landed face down. Screen cracked in three places. Sending it back to HTC for repair. Probably dropped my old iPhone 10 times worse and never broke a screen. It all just really depends how it falls. It's luck of the draw I guess.

That is why if I go to an amusement park I always put my phone in a plastic bag and wear cargo pants that either have a zipper pocket or a very secure button pocket for just that reason because I know I will be upside down.
