HTC One (M8): Case or naked

NAKED FO SURE! Maybe pick up a cheap TPU sort of case for when i go to the gym. That seems to be the time i am the most clumsy with my phone.

If only the US versions came with that little clear TPU flexible case the international versions came with. I would just toss that on to go to the gym, or not :-$

They don't state it applies to the M8, and the specific offer page for the "New" HTC One doesn't either, it only mentions the HTC perks, and free cloud storage but specifically doesn't mention the screen replacement.

I can only keep a case on this phone for a day or 2. Then I have to take it off because this phone is so nice without it.

I was looking this morning in their site and I found where it says it applies to the m8, can't find it now though. They need to update their website but I assure you, you are covered. You could probably call them and confirm for piece of mind

I also purchased a Speck grip case. Doesn't add much bulk and has great protection. I'm using it while working outside today.

I'm leaning towards naked more. Plus can the plastic cases reduce signal strength? maybe not by much but at least one or two bars?

I usually go without a case, but I've found the phone to be so slippery that I need to put a case on it. My hands are pretty dry usually, and it makes it almost uncomfortable to hold the phone. Luckily, the cases I have purchased have done the trick, not to mention in less worried about damaging it now.

I can add to this.. got mine from the Verizon store. It fits really tight and the edges are not squishy like those silicone cases. Actually helps the grip of the phone too.

Even though the M8 is gorgeous naked, I decided to protect my investment with a Seidio Surface case with Kickstand. It protects the screen when facedown, the camera lenses when faceup, stands up for watching videos or listening to music, and does not add much bulk. Major negative is that it is not clear. But I like the quality of a Seidio case.

I put a Incipio DualPro shine case on mine. I have to say it does add a little bulk to the phone, but I can still use it with one hand pretty comfortably, and it protects the phone very well.

It doesn't seem like it would stretch. but without a removable battery and my SD card in there I doubt I will have it off very often.

Yeah it is pretty stiff material. I've had silicone stretch in the past so I wasn't sure. I like to switch cases often.

I refuse to hide the brushed metal and the clear cases make it look too much like a hunk of plastic to me, so I'm going to go with a skin. Where does one find that Otterbox skin for the M8? I didn't see anything on the Otterbox site or in a search.

The problem with clear cases is they get yellowish overtime. They never stay crystal clear.

What good is a beautiful design and build quality if you have to cover it up.

A friend of mine has a vintage American muscle car. He never puts all that power to the test or shows it off. He just likes knowing it's there. He calls it "conservative power." I guess if we cover the M8 we can call it "conservative beauty". No need to show it off, we know it's there.

I'm using the official HTC Double Dip case, with the blue tab on top and orange on the bottom. I haven't read much on forums so don't know if other people are calling it the same, but to me, it's the Portal case. What makes it nice is that if I drop it, it goes through the floor and I can just keep my hand held out and it'll drop right back in. Sorry for those that don't get the reference...and for those that do...yeah, you're right, it's stupid. Hahaha.

In any case, although the phone itself is beautiful, the case does 2 things for me...confidence that if I drop it, the chances of the phone itself getting dented or scratched are significantly lessened, and also that it provides a little more thickness to the phone, which to me makes it just a bit easier to hold. I'm also waiting for the Dot View to be back in stock, though I'm starting to have second thoughts about getting it...
