Htc one m8 or LG G3

The m8 can handle the 128gb card? Any issues?

[JTC ONE m8]

Yes it can and I haven't seen anyone have a problem. They advertise it being able to use a 128gb card

Get a m8. I don't know why people ask for others opinions because we don't know what's important to you. Maybe one phone has features you need. Just think for yourself and make decisions.. You trust others over yourself? With all the information on the internet research it

If the ui resembles touchwiz, then no thanks. I really like Sense. It's the only skin that doesn't motivate me to flash an aosp Rom right away.

Or use a different launcher.... I agree

If you appreciate premium hardware quality then there is no competition. The M8 is the best smartphone out there.
If you care more about specs (that most of the time are meaningless), then wait to get the G3.

A 2k display seems like an overkill. I also don't like the skin LG is using. Another problem for me is the location of the power and volume buttons.
For me, coming from an iPhone there was only One choice. The M8 feels amazing in the hand and has great software. The G3 has amazing specs, a good design (but still plastic) and mediocre software.

This. ^^^

Nothing wrong with the G3...great specs, great phone. The screen will probably be amazing, but the human eye cannot discern the difference between 1080p and QHD.

The G3 will be an amazing device, and I have no skin in the game with either company. I personally just have a thing for the aluminum build of the M8 and its overall size and shape. Look and feel are *very* important to me. But everyone is different, has different tastes and different needs, so get what looks, feels and works best for you. You really can't go wrong with either.

i can't imagine a phone operating any better then the M8. Unless the LG G3 can anticipate my every move, effectively doing everything for me, then i don't require any other phone.

My next phone will need to have a major innovation to entice me to buy it.

Since you're asking; my 2 cents.

Considering that the phones are almost identical in size I would opt for significantly more screen space (M8 4.78"w/on screen buttons vs. LG3 5.5") than forward facing speakers.
You use the screen 100% of the time and the speakers occasionally.
LG3 - 5.7 x 2.9 x 0.3 inches; 5 oz.
M8 - 5.8 x 2.8 x 0.4 inches; 5.6 oz.

Agreed. And let's face it. We're all discussing the best Hogg end phones out there right now so you really can't go wrong with your choice. It's all about preference and what features/ui are important to you. For example, BlinkFeed is a must for me. It's how I manage both my social feeds and my news feed.

If you're going to honestly compare any phone to the M8 you need to consider its superior overall audio performance, and I'm not just talking about BoomSound speakers. Look at how the M8 compared to the G2 in GSM Arena's tests:

HTC One (M8) review: One and only - page 7 - GSMArena.com

These are huge differences. Do you think the G3 will be much better?

Enjoy your small bezels if that's what's important to you. But understand that every time you listen to any content through your device you will be having a lesser experience. I guess if you can't tell the difference that's not a problem. In my case I was torn between the M8, the S5, and the Z2. But then I listened to the M8 and the S5 back-to-back and the right choice suddenly became obvious. I'm sure all these flagship phones are great devices but if you care how your music sounds let's be frank and acknowledge that the M8 is in a class by itself.

You use the screen 100% of the time and the speakers occasionally.

I respectfully suggest you have two flaws in your reasoning. First, if you are listening to audio you are not necessarily looking at the device so your assertion about 100% screen usage is probably not valid for many people (you don't use the phone when you are driving? You look at the road close to 100% of the time, I hope). When I am playing audio I am rarely looking at the screen. Second, you should also consider whether the screen and speaker differences are noticeable or significantly effect your enjoyment of the device. For me the screen on the M8 is big enough but no other phone has speakers that I would now consider good enough.

Personal preferences and all that, of course...

After adding Viper4Android audio performance on G2 is comparable to M8. If the G3 sounds like the G2 I'll just use V4A and tweak the speaker settings.

You're right, let's say 96% of the time, LOL.

As far as a flaw regarding my comment on screen size...let's review; The OP asked for opinions, I gave mine stating that "I" not "you" or "anyone else" would opt for the larger screen size over front facing speakers. Again for the hard of hearing (or in this case reading). I prefer the LG3 because of it's larger screen. If you prefer the M8 screen size, Bravo....couldn't be happier for ya.

On the LG G3 you don't get the full 5.5 screen size. The on-screen buttons take up space just like the M8. The issue with the G3 is the width of the phone and the performance problems driving the larger screen and larger pixel count. It may do ok on battery, but it won't be as responsive as the 1080p phones.
I have a hard time choosing a phone from this generation of phones. The m8 is too long and too heavy. The M8 doesn't have OIS. The S5 only comes with 16GB of storage on most carriers and touchwiz isn't as responsive as the m8.
I think Samsung, HTC and LG all made the wrong decisions on what they created.
Apple will be out in the fall with a 6mm thick device that will have a bigger screen and will expose many of the Android handset companies poor choices. It won't be until early next year when the 20nm chips come out that many of the shortcomings will be addressed.

For me the ideal Android from this generation would have had:
1) m8's width
2) s5's height
3) m8 stereo speakers
4) no second back camera ( saves space and gets back to s5's height)
5) 70% metal instead of 90% to save weight
6) OIS
7) I can live with M8's camera or S5's camera if OIS included, most people post 1M scaled down photos to Facebook)

For this generation, if you can get the S5 or m8 on sale for $99 that is probably the best way to go.
I don't think waiting for the G3 and paying $199 is going to be worth it.

Let's make this clear, if you really care about UI/Skin on your phone, premium build, speakers and audio output, you would go for the HTC for sure
If you like to have a super awesome screen that's bigger, in the smallest form factor with ultra thin bezels, a better overall camera with OIS, removable battery and easier to fix and the ability to change the back cover, LG is your choice :).

For me the UI for the LG makes me feel sad about it, considering also that even when you smash a launcher onto it it would be 1080p res and not QHD res, a google edition (or shall i say silver?) would be a sweet deal

But i know something, you won't go wrong with any of these badass phones ;)
