Not sure if I know how to properly upload yet so I'll start simple and do more if these work. These were taken right after I opened the box. No care was taken in capturing the shots, I was just seeing how it handled a couple of difficult subjects. Haven't had time to play with it any more it since yesterday.
First, the jigsaw lamp. This thing usually either goes yellow or the exposure is all messed up. The M8 figured out how to capture it in a great way.
Next is our Chinchilla. Challenges are; he never stops moving, his micro-hairs never look right, and his silvery sheen never comes though. The M8 nailed it, though the focal point became the ear so the body hairs aren't as focused (but the detail in the focal point is exceptional for a 4mp cam). The room was dark but the M8 kept it from looking shadowy. That camera is so fast, yet soaks up a ton of light.

Thx guys. Funny you mention wallpaper. I put it as mine last night and it really pops on the M8 screen. I would have payed attention to the angle had I known someone would be using it. It is 11 feet in the air so I just held my arms up and snapped.
At first, I thought maybe it was stupid to post it but after searching pics of jigsaw lamps, I realized that very few people are able to get good pics of them. That was all M8, I just pointed and clicked. Smart little computer in there. As I mentioned before, I'm discovering that they didn't compromise with the cam as some have said. They intentionally made it this way so it can be really flexible and do cool things that other cams can't. I haven't even begun to get into the adjustments and effects and I'm already loving it.
Here's a quick shot I grabbed after a boxing session. She was taking a breather near an open window (which was the only light source used here). This pic doesn't really show off any of the cam's abilities but it does show how it makes every-day stuff look kinda cool. That just seems to be the character of the M8 cam.
(btw, she's standing in front of grapevines, those aren't twigs growing out of her)

If it wouldn't be too much trouble, do you think you could take some different pics of the lamp, maybe at different angles? That really is an outstanding picture and it makes for a great wallpaper. No worries if you don't want to

Golferchris and Bowie, your guy's pics have really blown me away! I'm seriously impressed by a lot of the pics you have posted. If anyone at all questions the merits of this camera, they just need to look at your some of your posts here. Kudos to both of you!

Truthfully, I haven't even begun to get into the cam and haven't even hooked up my phone with ATT yet. I'm really behind on some work projects and know that if I start delving into the phone I'll tune out the rest of the world (the dangers of being self-employed). I'll get some cool pics up soon. I just posted these to quickly confirm that this cam is a good as I was hoping it would be, which means a lot since I have been waiting on HTC to follow though on this for 2 years. If they ditched the effort in favor of a high MP cam, I was going to go back to Motorola. No, the M8 is not the end-all and it has limitations and quirks. But, it's got such a cool personality and the criticism it has received has been really short-sighted. I wouldn't trade it for anything else out now, or on the horizon, because it fits my style. Samsung cams are more accurate, but don't have that "wow" factor in certain situations, which is what HTC did here.
No problem! From the ground it's too hard to hold the phone steady because the ceiling is very high. I have a ladder and can get a really good shot. I'll try to get to it in the next couple days and either post it here or PM you a drop-box link.

I have been following threads over several forums on the M8 (which I own), the Z2 and S5. And one fact comes out. The M8 has more snaps of people and animals by miles. Why? Shutter speed
Anyway, I have over 21 photos using the m8 https://www.flickr.com/photos/gavinfabl100/sets/72157643265004874/ and it will get beefed up as time moves on.

I still haven't had time to figure out how to do the cool focus effects but here's a few plain point-and-clicks around the house.
Heirloom tomato in my garden (moderate lighting);
Climbing America rose (also moderate light);
A better jigsaw lamp pic for those who wanted wallpaper. I can't quite get it 100% straight but this one frames up really well on the M8.
