HTC One (M8) Photos & Videos Thread

Re: HTC One (M8) Photo's & Video Thread

I've reached a point where I'm very happy with the photos coming out of this phone, and have decided to keep it. The cherry blossom shot that I posted a couple of posts further up this page look really good - excellent color and detail. And some of the other images you guys are posting in this thread look great as well. This camera has it weaknesses for sure, but it's still very good. It's a matter of learning the camera (like any other camera), so you can shoot more effectively with it.

I'm glad you are happy with it. I noticed a couple pages back you were somewhat frustrated with it. It truly is a capable camera

I just picked up my M8 this morning and have been snapping pics nonstop all day. The fact that someone would think this camera is inadequate for a phone is quite laughable. I have yet to take one and be disappointed (granted I'm not a photog by any means). Low light shots have been especially outstanding for me. Here's one in a very dim lit area of my house:

What's the biggest print size can you print with this phone? I always print my photos 4?6. Can it print that?

Re: HTC One (M8) Photo's & Video Thread

Thanks! Now I know I can get this phone instead of the S5. I have a note 2 and I want something different.

The pics on this thread look good to me. I don't understand what the hatred is about with the camera on this phone. This is my next phone now that I know i can print pics.

Had my m8 for a couple days now. Seems like the camera is really good with close up and macro shots and struggles with landscape pics with difficult light conditions.

Here's a digital camera resolution chart to give you a better idea of what you can and cannot print, from a quality standpoint. :)

Great looking pooch! I'm just curious. Did you do anything with this photo (mess with the focus) after taking it? I ask because I can see a very distinct line towards the back half of your dog where it gets all blurry. Also, is your camera setting at 4 megapixels? I wonder why the actual size of the photo is 1085 x 613? Don't get me wrong. I'm NOT complaining about this phone's camera. I think it's awesome for a PHONE! Thanks for your help! :)

Looks to me like he used Ufocus. I get that with some pictures too, probably a software tweak will correct that in the future.

So does Ufocus reduce number of pixels? 1085x613 is only about 0.6MP. Can somebody confirm this?
The original one is 2688x1520 pixels as displayed at the top of the posted photo.

I was talking about the way the effect works.. like the tip of the dogs nose and midway down the body it blurs. To get the subject fully focused you need to be a certain distance/angle away for Ufocus to work the best, at least that's how I've experienced it. That should be a simple software fix on how the focal sensor uses its information.
The pixel count is there, just enlarge the pic to full and right click properties tell you the resolution.

Hey, thanks...she's an awesome pup!

Like someone else mentioned, I used ufocus on the picture and also noticed the distinct line of focus/unfocus but didn't think any one really would notice. I have the default camera settings on so I have no idea why the resolution would be different. It's uploaded through photobucket and the full size image isn't what's posted. Its full resolution is 2688x1520.

Re: HTC One (M8) Photo's & Video Thread

Oh, believe me! All of the people that are whining about the M8's camera would use that photo as a good reason to say the M8 is the worst thing every produced! Nothing's perfect, and the camera's lack of ability to perform like a two thousand dollar Canon DSLR isn't the reason for ME not to buy the phone. :)
