HTC One (M8) Photos & Videos Thread

U-focus can be pretty great but sometimes it doesn't work right and will produce some strange effects / artifacts on areas of the picture that should be in focus
Try it with the recent market update. It lets you choose the focal point better. I've personally had zero trouble since the update, though it did previously have issues, before they implemented control.

My wife was playing with my phone and camera earlier ( she's a die hard IPhone and Apple fan girl ) ........ she left this silly duck lip photo of herself ??!! I

I love it when she surprises me with pictures of herself on my phone !!

Ok these are pretty crappy (no offense) but I think that is user error since every other photo on this page looks freakin' amazing.

no where did i say "look at my amazing photos"

no indoor lighting anywhere for any of them so the camera has to work harder to bring light in the photo up; also set to default settings.

not user error - it's the device. I can whip out my Lumia 1020 if you'd like some better device photos!

- or -

it's possible i have a defect camera (would need more testing) :-!

Taken just now, default auto, no edits.

Only natural light coming through the blinds, extremely cloudy day (chance of snow/rain)

We all like to see how slick the cam can be but what about seeing how cruddy it can be? For kicks, I took a pic of my funky Sphynx cat, edited it 100% in the M8 and sent it too my wife. I told her this was an old photo I found in her vintage copy of Lord of the Rings. ;)

Though I normally never edit pics, the editing features on the M8 are crazy deep and I am going to have a lot of fun with this thing.

Starting to learn the effects on this phone. The reviewer who said the dual-focus was worthless has lost all credibility with me. It's so cool! I've only messed with a couple photos so far but here's one I grabbed while kitty was staring at a lizard. Unfocused the background and threw on a preset filter. Oh, and this is a heavy crop, yet the detail is still fine.

No offense, that is one scary looking cat.

Got my M8 yesterday, decided to do a bit of low light testing this evening. Obviously not high end DSLR quality like I'd use for a serious project, but I'm extremely impressed at what it was able to capture. All of these were shot in lighting that would have still been just possible to read in, albeit uncomfortably.

None taken. Everyone that sees her IRL love this cat. Every time I take her to Petsmart, I have so many ladies come up to me to pet the cat and ask questions. My wife hates it but, ironically, that's actually how I met my wife.
She looks freaky in photos and that's partially my fault because I think it's hilarious to make this cat look like some kind of creature.

Wow! That HDR pic by the pool really stands out. Nice!

Here is my first photo post with the new HTC One M8. I am always interested to know how well a camera handles photos of people. Here are 3 photos that prove to me the M8 handles skin tones very well, and also captures moving children with ease! All photos are untouched other than using U-Focus on 2 of them.

No effects:
