This does NOT represent the quality of the M8 because the lens was covered in fingerprints, but it had me in stitches so I had to snap a pic while walking past.

I wanted to compare M8 to my Canon SX260HS (a $200 Camera on amazon.) Personally I think the camera is okay, I don't really how theres all kinds of effects to make photo's seem like they have dslr qualities. I don't even have a dslr but still the whole dof and lens blur things are lame imo.
First photo is from camera in "auto macro mode"




Personally I think the M8 takes very good pictures, but I probably would still use my canon p&s for dedicated photography things when I want to dial in the settings. OTG the M8 is great.

I know the pictures aren't as similar as they could be... I am no photographer just sometimes a hobby. I'm sure if I really messed with the settings on the M8 in manual I could take a better comparsion too, but I can't be bothered with the touchscreen for that stuff, sometimes a simple mechanical feeling is a lot better.

Just a simple macro shot focused on the nearest part of the pencil... I think the camera is just fine, I only really look at the pics on the phone, with no real intention of printing or cropping, so does the job for me... I was really impressed with the level of detail brought out of the material the pencil is resting on...
