HTC One (M8): Quick Charge 2.0

The Quick Charge chargers that are available now are all 1.0.....
Moto, HTC, and other companies are set to launch chargers capable of Quick Charge 2.0 shortly. Moto Turbo Charger will be available from 09-16-2014.

Updates will not be needed as the tech is already enabled, the chargers just have to be released to the public.

Anker® 24W Dual-Port Rapid USB Car Charger with PowerIQ™ Technology for iPhone 5s 5c 5; iPad Air, mini; Galaxy S5 S4; Note 3 2; the new HTC One (M8)

I have been using one of these for months. Works real well. $10. I feel Anker to be a good brand.

Has the OEM quick charge 2.0 charger been released yet? If so where can I get one and how much?

Just wish HTC would get off their butts and release their QuickCharge 2.0 unit...

I mean... it's been months since the phone was released with the ability to quick charge....

Why make M8 owners have to buy it from someone else?

Perhaps I don't understand the question. But I am using a LePower 2.1 amp charger I bought from Amazon. With it I use a PortaPower Fast charge USB cable. On my LG G2. It charges really fast. Much faster than the 1.5 amp charger that I also have. So why can't youse guys use one of those? I also have an Anker car charger. same thing. splain to me what I am missing.

ok, thanks for the links, badelhas. I see that more is needed. The charging items that I mentioned previously in this thread do charge my phone in about half the time as the charger that came with the phone. I look forward to even faster charging, and with an HTC phone.

That shouldn't be happening, unless the stock charger is defective. The phone determines how much amperage to pull, and the M8 is designed to only pull 1.5A max on a regular charger. Even if you have a 2.1A charger, the phone will still only draw about 1.5A at the most (which I've also verified with my own use). The only other culprit would be the USB cable. If when you switched to the aftermarket charger, you also started using a new cable, then your old cable was likely bad.

That means they sold out the available stock because yesterday was available for 34,99 bucks

As I mentioned I am using LG G2. It has Quick Charge 2.0 enabled. Quick Charge 2.0 is part of Snap Dragon 800. I came to this thread as I expect to trade my G2 for an M8. The chargers I am using, as has been pointed out, are 5V2.1A and not the 9V. Still, they charge much faster than 1.5A and I don't understand why some have waited to purchase 2.0A chargers.

Comparing apples to apples, meaning talking only of non-QC2 chargers, what you're saying doesn't make sense. When I mentioned verifying with my own use, I use a 2.1A charger most of the time and the M8 doesn't charge any quicker. The same with any phone I've had, and it's how charging systems work. The phone will determine how much amperage to pull from the charger. Even if the port is rated at 10A, the phone is still only going to pull the 1.5A or whatever that it was designed for. Buying a stronger standard charger just because you think it'll charge your phone faster is wrong.

I know you were talking about using a stronger charger on your G2. I don't know what the stock rating is, but the way you worded your post made it sound like you bought a stronger than stock charger and the phone started charging faster. That's why I said the only way that could happen is if the stock charger was defective and not putting out the right current, or perhaps the USB cable going out.

There are reasons for getting a stronger charger, like for flexibility and perhaps longevity, but that's about it.

I know for sure that using a 5v 2amp charger does charge the M8 faster. I don't know if that's using some sort of Quick Charge functionality or not. In a 60 minute period it'll charge up about 60%, while using the stock charger it'll go up about 45%. Can't wait for the real Quick Charge chargers if they'll be even faster.

My M7 vs my new M8 side by side...

M7 @ 35%
M8 @ 16%

M8 now at 100%
M7 only at 79%

Pretty fast for QC 1.0 ... wait till they come out with 2.0

Why didn't you put the lists in consistent order? Your post is confusing, and it us by clear what you're trying to say.

The Moto Turbo Charger says available, but at check out, it says Pre Order.

Has anyone successfully received this charger? And does it work on the M8 to charge more quickly?

Lastly, any word on an HTC model??
