HTC One (M8): Slow Wi-Fi?

i had problems with the apps of youtube, facebook, instagram, but not with chrome or whatsapp...

found this solution to fix it, tried it and now it looks like the problems are gone. maybe it works for you too

1. Open page with the available "Wi-Fi" networks (Settings, WI-FI)
2. Tap on the "3 dots" in the upper right corner
3. "Wi-Fi Direct"
4. Tap on the "3 dots" in the upper right corner
5. "Rename device"
6. Replace "Android_ed2c" with "HTC One" (or whatever you want) and hit "OK"

Incredibly following the directions also cleared up my slow wifi/connection problems. WTF!

Wow - same here! Changing the WiFi Direct name worked. I set mine to "HTCOneM8" and now have over 54 Mbps on my home WiFi when it was previously around 1.8Mbps according to the Speedtest.net app.

Many thanks. I wonder how many people experience this issue without knowing they could have so much higher speeds. I'd got used to using my mobile data all the time!

Hi friends. My M8 has bad performance on Wifi. I Try My other devices but m8 worst device. I read posts and i try dışa le bluetooth then Wifi works beter. Equel other devices. I thing antenna issue.
