HTC One M9 overheating, like crazy.

I've had the m9 since the day it was released on at&t. I haven't had many of the issues other users have reported, however my device does get hot when I'm really working it, ie many browser pages and multiple Apps open. Via the 4636 code, my m9 has reached into the high 40's ℃ many times (over 47℃). I usually take off the Otter box, and leave it alone for a few. It cools right off. Interestingly enough, the overheat warning led's don't usually come on.?.?.?

I just bought M9+ today and its overheating like crazy , im sooo disapointed , dunno what to do !!

So, he contacted HTC.

HTC may not fix his phone due to the cracked camera lens, and his battery actually expanded.

They're arranging a pickup.

Was that SoC temp or battery temp?

Given that SoCs idle at 40 degrees, I'm pretty sure that 47 degrees on an SoC is normal. 47 degrees on the battery is not.

Is the camera lens not covered under Uh Oh? Also, just out of curiosity, did the overheating happen before or after the camera lens crack?

Uh Oh isn't available for me as I don't live in the US (I live in England)

The overheating happened before.

I should be able to reply today as where I'm staying has a okayish internet connection.

Alright, update time, and it has ended.

He recently swapped his M9 for an S6 Edge+.

He's currently very happy with it.

We'll see how long that lasts. Not saying anything about the S6 Edge or the M9 particularly...Just him.

That was 2 years ago.. how is that relevant now?

It's relevant because they never stopped. May not have been caught again but they still do it. Don't know why they don't focus more on Apple, HTC is not a big player right now.

ah, well thank you. I didnt know they still did it.
Let them go after apple, I like HTC. lol

My biggest worry was the battery.

We agreed that he was lucky his battery never reached 60 degrees or it would've exploded.

I had the same problem-- mine hit 51.8 C and I was getting pretty uncomfortable. It was even doing a reset almost every week now. The phone was only 5 months old.

Sent it back, and I'm on my replacement, the new one started overheating as well when transferring my contacts over. It's warm now, and just today I'm now at 58% battery while at work! I haven't even been able to use it. So--your friend isn't the only one with that problem.

Thanks for sharing.

He's since moved on from the M9. He currently uses the Galaxy S6 edge+, and he's considering the Note7.
