HTC One: This is THE BUG Thread.

Re: This is THE BUG Thread.

Just something I found today. If you have the "productivity" setting for your lockscreen, you should have unread text messages, calendar events, etc. on your lockscreen. However, if you have a music player going on in the background (either Google Play or stock Music app) the music controls show up in the lockscreen but your productivity notifications disappear. When I stop the music app the notifications come back. Anyone else notice this/tried this?

Re: This is THE BUG Thread.

Also, I can't seem to find the music that I pinned from Google Play on my phone. I searched through the sdcard under Android/data/com.google.android.music/cache and there's nothing there. This is music I uploaded from my own library to Google Play, not music I bought from the Google Play store. Is this normal? Sorry if this is the wrong thread to post, let me know and I'll delete it and put it somewhere else! Thanks for any answers!

Re: This is THE BUG Thread.

Apparently some people have fixed the unresponsive home/back buttons by going to language&keyboard ->HTC sense input -> advanced -> calibration tool. Then when you type the sentence out, type very lightly on your keyboard. This "should" make everything more sensitive. The original thread with instructions is here: Solution to irresponsive back/home key - xda-developers

Update: I think it works because now when I press the home/back buttons I get a much stronger vibration whereas before I got hardly any vibration at all.

Some comments in that thread also mention that it's a software issue to be addressed in the next OTA.

Re: This is THE BUG Thread.

Sometimes my home button doesn't work and I have one dead pixel, but besides that it's great.

Re: This is THE BUG Thread.

Okay, so after reading one of the many other posts about the back/home problem, I have finally come to terms with this. It is not a bug, it is a design choice. Although I still disagree with HTC's decision, Now that I know what the issue is I can deal with it. I no longer have to wonder if my phone is faulty. After a few hours of knowing the issue, I have already almost eliminated missed home/back clicks... it is best summed up by a picture.

edit: maybe some phones have another problem about buttons not responding at all, but since I have realized the actual locations of the buttons, I have not noticed any unresponsiveness on my phone when I touch right place.

The capacitive buttons light up, we know where they are, they just don't respond all the time. It's a Bug.

I tried it your way as I am willing to try anything at this point :) As soon as I completed the calibration (lightly touching), I hit the home button 4 times before it responded. NOTE: I was very careful to hit the stenciled home button, so it wasn't a mis-touch at all.

Re: This is THE BUG Thread.

on my phone during certain times the screen brightens slightly goes up or down its not noticeable until i focus on it and try to catch it, i have auto brightness and battery saver turned off. would this mean i have a faulty unit ?

Re: This is THE BUG Thread.

I was a bit skeptical on this one but I did it and my buttons seem much more responsive as well!

More responsive or normal responsive like on other HTC phones?

Re: This is THE BUG Thread.

One thing I've noticed is that there doesn't seem to be a way to control the settings for the notification light when it comes to new messages received in the Gmail app. I have notifications enabled within the Gmail app but there's apparently no way to configure the notification light to not blink when a new Gmail message is received. I'd prefer the light not blink when I get a new Gmail message but still have the new icon message appear in the menu bar. Disabling the light for "Mail" in the Display - Settings area on the One has no impact on this, so I assume that's only for usage with the stock Mail app on the phone.

Certainly not a major deal but still a bit annoying for me.

Have you tried going to Settings/Apps/Gmail? Up at the top there is a check box that says "Show Notifications?" I'm not sure if this will turn off both the notification light and notifications in the notification area or not. Maybe even change the default app preference to Gmail instead of the stock HTC one and see if the setting under display works then.

I have a screen protector on mine and before the calibration I would have to hit the buttons on average twice before they would respond. After the calibration I tap the buttons and get an immediate response with both the back and home buttons.

Re: This is THE BUG Thread.

here is an issue i have been experiencing for the last few days - even though i set the settings for calls and text messages on "vibrate" i am missing calls/texts and when i check the phone i see it is on "silent" instead of on "vibrate". anybody know why the phone would change this setting on it's own? might that be a battery saver function?

Re: This is THE BUG Thread.

Anyone had your phone answer automatically as you take it out of your pocket? Seems to have happened everytime I get a call as I remove the phone from my pocket it answers it before I have even looked ?
Can't find any options to say it's set like that, also not pulling it out any different from my galaxy nexus.

Just wondering

There is a settings tweak in the Power Save mode to toggle vibrations. I think the default is no vibrations. See if that works.

Thank you! I ran calibration and the back and home buttons respond better for me as well. I used to have to press several times.

Re: This is THE BUG Thread.

So I'm having two issues with my Developer Edition HTC One:
- "Drag to unlock" on the lock screen isn't working - you just tap the screen and it unlocks going to the home screen (or, if you tap an item in the dock, to launch that app). Lock screen is active but I'm not using a PIN or pattern. Initially it was working when I first set up the phone but it stopped after a couple of hours.
- If I press "Decline" on an incoming call from either the lock screen or when the phone is unlocked the One answers the call. So no matter what I press (Decline or Answer) the One picks up. This one is unacceptable, and I can't find any fixes online, so I'm going to bite the bullet and do a factory reset and see if it goes away.

Re: This is THE BUG Thread.

I'm hearing a poping sound sometimes when im on a call. Playing music or videos plays perfectly.
