HTC One = Total Fail?

It's crazy how everyone gets so mad at innovation and just calls it gimmicky. No wonder Apple quit innovating. No one wants it anymore. If we did, we wouldn't crucify the companies who step out on a limb and try new things. Everyone says gimmicks are not going to be used by everyone. Is that not applied to every last consumer product on the market?
Please, can't we do better at finding actual weaknesses with phones other than being lazy and just calling them all gimmicks? So much for the war on Apple. It's just a civil war now within the Android ecosystem.

Nothing samsung put forth is innovation. They're gimmicks that, frankly, don't work well.

Samsung is obviously throwing any software tweaks etc.. On their fones, its just the path they are on to slowly step away from android.. If they flood us with all this software people will end up using it whether they need it or not...

Its all a mute point for me! I'm going to windows phone! I want nothing to do with an atheist company like Google!

Remember what the doormouse said, feed your head!

Aluminum is more durable than plastic.

I don't know what you're personal definition of durable is, but taken at face value your claim is silly. There are many aluminum alloys, and there are many plastic formulations. They all have different properties. And of course there can be a wide range of conditions a test subject might be subject to.

Heat? Okay I'm sure most of the plastic formulations will melt at lower temperatures than most of the aluminum alloys will. Even so, that's only important written a certain rang of temperatures, because below that range you might find that an aluminum alloy softens while a plastic formulation does not, and of course above that range they all melt anyway.

Vibration? Got to give the win to plastic here. Metals including aluminums can suffer fatigue and eventual failure. Plastics generally don't have this problem so much.

But I've tried explaining all this before but it doesn't seem to carry any weight. Please consider that the best performing airplanes these days are predominantly plastic. These include record setters and even spacecraft now. Well, I imagine that won't open your mind either, so I'll try one more thing.

What are 99 percent of the protective cases we put on our phones made of? Specifically, what is the HTC ONE double-dip case made out of? Theyre using plastic to protect the aluminum.

I think about the only point I may agree with is the waiting. I am a little upset places are still out of stock but as I am buying sim free at least I m saving money for now...lame excuse to make me feel better.
No I don't have a One (I have an iPhone 5 right now) but I have read so many reviews I prefer it to the S4. Or is that more I prefer sense to touchwiz..?

I'm no longer interested in what you have to say. You state absurd opinion as fact and refuse to back it up. So naturally, your opinion of gimmicks means jack.

I have a feeling most posters in this thread would argue with a stop sign.
Congrats for producing the worst thing on the Internet.

Exactly like I said. Either gimmicky garbage or available in Google play in a more polished form.

Multiview I'll give you, although it's only really useful with larger devices like the Note line or tablets.

But they aren't garbage at all.

More functionality >less functionality (wow sounds like when I'm talking to the apple crowd on macrumors. Com)

If it actually did provide more functionality I'd agree. But almost none of Samsung's "features" are useful and the ones that are seem half-baked at best and don't really work well.

And all of those have more functional alternatives in the app store.

Nerds love functionality. It's why we use Thinkpads and Gentoo. If Touchwiz was so functional you'd see all the folks on XDA rolling it instead of AOSP.

As I said like 3 times now, that's my opinion, you're welcome to yours. Feel free to enjoy your slower, bloated phone with less battery life. If it works for you, I don't really care.

UT it DOES provide more functionality. If you don't like it so be it, but it does add more functionality

In the same way that having a broken old toaster welded to your dashboard provides more functionality to your car. It drains the battery, clutters the car and burns the toast. Not to mention that the vast majority of folks don't want to make toast while driving in the first place and if they did, they could get a nice new toaster that works properly and plug it in or remove it at their leisure.
