Totally worked for me. Thanks! I have a HTC M8 mini and this is the second time in two days it happened to me. First time it worked with only pluging it into a wall socket, but the second time, just a minutes ago, it didn`t work, so I tried the power button + volume up for about 10-15 sec and it worked immediately. So thanks guys! Letting you know if this bug comes back again.

P.S. Since for some reason quote post wont work, I was referring to the "power + volume up button" problem fix...

Thank you for recommending holding the volume up and power button for a while… that was the only thing that worked and I tried everything! Thanks!

Yesterday morning my Unrooted Sprint m8 randomly rebooted while the battery was at %100. After shutting down the phone was stuck on the boot screen that shows "HTC" for a few minutes until it turned off completely. The phone is completely unresponsive to inputs as well as charging. When plugged in to a wall port the phones charging light does not come on. But when i plug it into my laptop I get a ding from the laptop meaning that it is detecting something. In looking for an answer I figured out that this might have been a result of my battery "discharging". I connected it to the proper charger several times for several hours and no dice. I have also heard the suggestions and done the following; held power + up buttons, held power + down buttons, held all three buttons for 2 minutes, none of these solutions work for me but they have for other people. My phone is still in a state that appears to just be dead. Although when you hold the Power button + Vol Up + Vol Down for about 2 min 30 sec while on a charger or plugged into a computer you get a flash of orange light quickly from the charging indicator. When connected to the lptop and this is done I can hear the phone disconnect and immediately reconnect to the laptop as if the laptop discovered something. Can I please get some help here this is awful and is ruining my week.

Hi Kendrick, were you able to solve your problem? If so can you please tell me how? If not did you find out what was wrong?

Thanks...

Hello i had this same exact problem. It said " htc system isn't responding then flickered and turned off" I tried charging and it didn't turn on. I tried holding the power button for like 30 seconds. That did't work either. Then I unplugged it. I took the battery out then put it back in, put the case on then held the power button and it turned on. So if you have this problem do that as long as you know how to properly take the battery out . It takes a couple minutes to load but its way better than waiting a week or two for a new phone replacement. Hope this helped :)

My phone just did this turned off and it wont come back on tried the start/volume buttons 10 secs 20secs till my fingers ached. Still no joy plugged it back in no joy,

Saw my neighbour yesterday who works in the shop for m provider. he said he hadn't seen me for ages. hmmm looks like he jinxed me.

Aside from that ITS STILL NOT WORKING. :'(

Just keep holding it. Sometimes it takes a while. I used the volume up botton, and it worked quite quickly, have to hold it for atleast 3 minutes *From what I've seen on previous post* It doesn't act right away for some.

This just happened to my boyfriend's HTC Desire 15.0. I've tried everything and am now just leaving it on the charger. :-\

it worked ....it worked it worked it worked...yipeeeyeeyee....thnku so much..ur a life saviour:D

Thank you to who posted about holding the lock button and the up volume button it came back in within 15 seconds thank you so much.:)

So my HTC One M8 just completely died on itself yesterday, from about 90% battery. It felt quite hot (although not the hottest I've felt; some games used to push it a lot hotter), and no matter how hard I try, it just wouldn't turn on.

I've tried almost everything mentioned in this thread, to no avail. I've tried pressing the power and volume up buttons together for more than two minutes, plugged and unplugged, under direct sunlight, and still got no response.

The only sign of life is that, when plugged in to a PC / wall outlet, the orange LED does come on. However, no matter how long I charge it (I've left it plugged to a wall outlet overnight), it never goes green.

Any suggestions before I start contacting HTC support?
