HTC One: Wondering if HTC will release a maintenance update to fix KitKat problems

Re: HTC One: Wondering if HTC will release a matainence update to fix KitKat problems

I've got a few issues.

- Google voice starts up on its own.
- The phone calls my last recent call on its own when I open my browser.
- Alarm clock no longer works!
- Battery life has also decreased

They need to bring out a fix as it's ridiculous!

Have you factory reset your device?

The speaker phone issue coming on automatically is related to a bug found in Chrome browser ver. 33.
This speaker phone issue happens every time after Chrome has been used.
I stopped using Chrome browser (downloaded Chrome beta ver 34.xx) and the speaker phone issue is no longer present. Just waiting for an update to Chrome browser....

Weepatc that's strange as I have an unlocked uk model and have nothing yet.

That is strange. Vodafone UK right on the ball here. Guess you'll get the update shortly.

I bought HTC One on Three in the UK a few weeks ago. Downloaded the 4.4.2 update as it was setting up, found the battery was dreadful (would lose 1% of battery every couple of mins while the phone was switched on, whether making calls, texting, browsing), took phone back after a couple of days and Three gave me a brand new phone. HTC UK had pulled the Kitkat update by then, so have been running 4.3 last 2-3 weeks, and battery has been fine!

Today, got the message a software update to 4.4.2 is available once more. I'm obviously reluctant to install it given what happened last time... the update is to 4.20.771.17 and takes up 358mbs, so this is different to the new software announced today, which is version 4.19.401.11 and 205mbs, but I think is a fix to Kitkat if you have it installed already, which I don't, so 4.20.771.17 could be the new improved version of Kitkat for HTC One in the UK (think it was 4.19.401.8 that screwed my phone first time round) - but then then an earlier poster had a different software version from Vodafone UK too.... so I am a bit confused, and nothing comes up on Google search for 4.20.771.17. What do the wise people of Android Central think?! :)

Surely the biggest problem which no ones mentioned on this thread yet is the fact that you can't write to or delete anything from the sd card using a file manager app on an HTC m8 because of kitkat. The problem would be solved if HTC had their own stock file manager but for some bizarre reason, they don't.
