Good to know. But this camera issue; what else might you, I or anyone else need to know to get this fixed?
I am also having these same issues except mine are a little worse. I have an HTC One M8. My camera crashes then says unable to start camera when I try to reopen. Also when it does open before it crashes, it's always in landscape and it will not flip no matter which way I flip the phone! I have auto rotate on but it still won't flip! It stayed open long enough for me to change the flash I switched it to off and I took a bunch of pictures with no problem. I also got it to switch to selfie and the screen changed to portrait and when I switched back to camera it stayed on portrait but still wouldn't flip. The only thing I haven't done is a factory reset and I really don't want to. I've never done it before and am a little scared lol. I have no idea what ROM managers are, what they do, or how to use them. My front led will not come on at all not even with my flashlight on. I really loved this phone until this week!
I just picked up a used HTC One X last week for $100 and the person I bought it from mentioned that the camera had been having problems. When I tried to open the Camera app on the phone, it would start to open the app and get to the point where the phone would display what the camera was pointing on, but the display is black and the app shuts down and displays an error message that reads: "Camera unable to start." Now, after just trying to check the camera app again while posting this, the app still shuts down, but it no longer displays an error message.
This phone has Android version 4.1.1 and HTC Sense version 4+.
After doing some Google searching, it seems as though this is a fairly common problem with this phone; however, I can not find any sort of resolution for it. I have done a factory reset on the phone and tried a different camera app from the GooglePlay store. nothing seems to resolve the issue. So, I am hoping that someone may be able to offer some helpful information, advice or suggestions about this issue. Thanks in adavnce to anyone who replies!
