HTC Sensation Rooting Issue

I own an HTC Sensation 4G which I've wanted to root for a while so I can add a faster ROM and fonts to the phone itself, amount other things.

I finally did the root bit - first I unlocked the bootloader following HTC's instructions posted on their website to the letter. My phone's bootloader then read BOOTLOADER UNLOCKED. Then, I bought the basic apps every rooted phone MUST have (Superuser, Busybox, Titanium Backup, Root Checker, Permissions Denied and No-Ad Android). Then I fired up Superuser (current version is 3.0.6), whch said I could update the SU binary. Tried that, and what I got was this:

Checking md5sum - okay!
Checking current install path....failed!
Failed to find currently installed su binary.
Update cannot continue.

On Root Checker, when I asked it to check for root, here's what that said:

Root Access is not properly configured or was not granted.
The ADB Binary is set to default shell user access as a standard non-root user.
Standard su binary location: ls -l/system/bin/su:
/system/bin/su: No such file or directory
Alternate su binary location: /sbin/su: Permission denied
SU binary not found or not operating properly

So I tried rooting it again, this time using Revolutionary. I got the S-OFF I wanted, but now I'm not sure if the bootloader was locked again or not. The white page on my phone only gies me an HBOOT number, along with something that says eMMC - BOOT (whatever that means). Anyway, I ran both superuser and root checker again after that, and the results were the same. Yes, I admit I'm a NOOB when it comes to rooting - I'm sure everyone was once.

So...what happened and is there yet another way to get the phone rooted RIGHT??? Please help - thanks a ton!!
