HTC Software update available incl. Menu button fix

How do you do this? I would love to use Rhapsody and Audible in the stock car app.

From Music, press and hold to remove, add from the menu at the top right.

Just noticed network mode was changed to lte/cdma. Make sure you change it to cdma only untill you get lte.

There's some "disagreement" on that setting. Some Sprint reps advise as you said, but according to poster(s) in the Sprint EVO LTE forum, HTC says just the opposite i.e. better to leave it set at lte/cdma regardless.

I've tried both settings for multi-week periods - no LTE in my area yet - and have seen no difference in either performance or battery life.

Not working for me. I assume you mean press and hold while in the car mode, correct?

no, you have to go into the music app, not google music but the htc one. not under car mode. just go into it from your app drawer. once you open the music app, a list off media app should show up. you can remove any of them if you want by long pressing them. on the upper right corner, you will see a menu button, press that and you will see add app shortcut. then you can choose any additional app that you can add. once it's added, those app will show up in car mode. you have to scroll to the most right screen in car mode to see these additional app. if you only stay in the home screen in car mode, you will only see phone, navi, music, and tune in radio. make sure you scoll to 2 screen to the right to see the additional apps.

In my experience before I got LTE there was no detectable difference in my battery life between leaving it on and turning it off. I always got about 18 hours between charges. Have you done more exacting testing?

I noticed from day one if you do not have lte in your area but have lte radio on sometimes you loose 3g connection because your phone is always looking for 4g service that is not there. For myself and most people keeping it off has nothing to do with battery.

Interesting. I've always had an adequate 3G service so I've always had a reliable connection. And now, glory be, I have 4G LTE wherever I go.

Re: Firmware update available incl. Menu button fix

What menu button are we taking about? Anyways what I notice right of the bar was the dedicated tab option in your sick browser. To bad I'm not using it anymore. Quick controls for me it's amazing.

Where is the menu button? I did the update, i don't see anything new just the bar at the bottom for email, messages, phone & camera. Is that the menu button?

Go to settings, gestures, buttons... You can change the behavior of the recent apps button to make it function as a menu button also.

I see what you are saying. The 1st 2 options seem to do the same. I can't tell any difference in the 1st two & the apps button on the phone. The 3rd option does nothing. Is this the way it's suppose to work?
Thanks,
Thomas

TraderGary, I have no testing to confirm. It just seems logical that it would have to use battery to search for something that doesn't exist yet in my area. I had changed it to cdma only with that in mind and after the update it was back to lte/cdma. zmann, I wan't having that issue. Bob

I didn't read this one posted yet...
Can go directly to the alarms set-up page now, without having it go to the world clock first, then choosing the alarms tab. That annoyed me so I'm glad that has been changed. However, I can't seem to set the Recent Apps button to act as a menu. I've set it to do so, but I don't get the menu for some reason. ...Ah, now I am getting the menu. Cool.

I love this update, it has removed my need to run custom kernels. The ram added back by this update fixed the app reloading issue. My phone is also as fast and fluid as it was clocked up to 2.1ghz with excellent battery life again I've had my phone off the charger for 10 hours and I'm at 48% I started at 80
