Anyone elses messages app crash when you try to delete a draft or a failed message

Yep.

Highly wonky when plugged in and charging now. The ring unlock won't work with repeated tries and I need to hit the volume rocker or turn the screen off then on again to get the ring to respond and unlock.

Beyond the menu bar, this update did more harm than good to an otherwise excellent device. Yet again, why am I surprised at a wonky software update.

I won't Go There and suggest one, but have you done a hard / factory reset since the update? I ask because I've seen posts where people said a scorched-earth reset fixed various bits of strange behavior noticed after MR1 and MR2. If you've already tried this and still see the weirdness, a repeat isn't likely to help. If you've not tried, well... I don't know. Wouldn't be my first response but seems like it should be on the list somewhere.

I see none of these updates...LOL

Go to Settings>System Updates>HTC Software Update

Keep scanning if you don't see it pop up. If it doesn't pop up for the new update than check which Sense version you have (4.0?) Newest update will bring you to 4.1
If you don't have the update yet, make sure you download over Wifi or if your lucky enough to be in an area LTE is available then lucky you. 171MB download over 3g will take ages.

True, but no I haven't gone there yet. Most of these are relatively minor annoyances, so I havent bothered to reset.

No update for me, either. Still Sense 4.0 and Android 4.0.3

It was all peachy until a few days ago when data speeds have become horrible and for some reason my calls are dropping, not conencting and phone completely freeezes up when waking up from sleep... I am really not pleased.. I might end up doing a full reset as well to see if any of this goes away... pretty annoying as I am still unrooted and this means I have to reinstall all the apps.. :(

I am not a lawyer Sprint support rep but this sounds like a local tower outage/upgrade. Possibly. Might be worth a call to customer service. Even if they just give you the near-standard response about tower issues, usually they also give you some kind of date for expected correction.

If you're able to hit another part of town before you call them, you might be able to see if the problem seems dependent on your location. Hope you get it resolved!

I'm really digging the update. I recently switched jobs and at my new place of employment both my cell/data signal and the wifi signal are horrible. My phone was literally going through a full charge a day with minimal use. Now I'm back to great battery life! The menu button fix is a welcome change and the phone just feels all around better to use now. It's nice seeing that on average I'm seeing 100-200 extra mb of ram as well.

So far, this update has kept me from bailing on my contract and ditching this phone. Just like with the og Evo, I got this phone pre order. Since day 1 it wasn't really useable as a phone in my area, it was nothing but a dropped call nightmare. Since this last software update, my dropped calls have *so far* been a thing of the past. That is actually saying a lot, because before I would have to suffer through 2 to 5 dropped calls before I got my message across to my wife. Now I havent had any problems since the patch.

This frustrates me because I have no way of knowing if this is just coincidence, and that Sprint finally got around to fixing a tower in my area, or if the update actually fixed something that was causing my dropped calls. I guess I'll never know, but I do know that I wont tolerate this monkey business any more with future phones.

Re: Firmware update available incl. Menu button fix

I got one of those, I thought it was very strange it showed up in my Handcent log but not in Google Voice inbox, as I have that integrated.
Has anyone figured out what these messages are and how to stop them.

you didn't mention if you've updated your prl (settings->system updates->update prl). the prl is the "list" of towers available to you and if you don't update that list, you aren't taking advantage of a tower they may have installed near you.

Not recently no. I have done so a couple of dozen or more times pre update out of frustration, but not since.

There is something about this update that has changed a default SOUND. there is now a new sound, not an email alert sound, not a calendar alert, that goes "do DUH" about every 15-30 minutes. It's not regular enough to say it's a timer, or email checking. are there any new sounds that are associated with things like connecting or disconnecting with wifi or cellular? Is there any way to figure out what sound is associated with what event? I'm assuming that the list of sounds is static, if I go through them all I'll find the one that is going off, but then would need to find the event it is being associated with.
