HTC Sync Manager problem! Phone is not connected.

I found the AndroidHtcSync2. but when I tap on install it quickly return with X App not installed. Any one know why this would be?

The APK instructions worked a treat. The problem has annoyed the hell out of me for ages. Can't thank you enough!! may good things come to you in for form of rewards for a long time to come.

I still had to also:
1. get a different USB cable
2. check sync manager to auto open when the phone is plugged in, and then close HTC Sync manager,
3. plug in the new cable
4. ensure the phone was unlocked.

I finally managed to connect to my PC by USB.

"First series of steps: Start menu (the blocks above the home button, home button looks like a house) > Settings > Security > Check Unknown Sources

Second series of steps: Start menu > File Manager > AndroidHtcSync2.apk > install"

Go to file manager and tap the file "androidHtcSync2.apk" which will then show you the file "androidHtcSync2.apk" and then tap that file to bring up the menu "do you want to install" and then tap "install" (not "cancel") and the file will be installed.
My problem was that the directory was there but contained no file. I had to work out how to get the file AndriodHtcSync2.apk into the directory AndroidHtcSync2.apk so that I could then install it.
If you go into >File Manager >AndriodHtcSync2.apk and when you tap the directory get the message "no file present" or similar then you need to download and get the file onto your phone before you can install it. Whew!

Dom 2711. The App is not there. What you see is the empty directory and you must download the file (google it on your PC) and then install it onto your phone.
when you have the file on your phone go File Manager >AndriodHtcSync2.apk(the directory) > AndroidHtcSync2.apk(the file) > install"

This is the best argument to shift to iPhone.
I would rather not, but I am fed up with 2 MAJOR issues:
1: Sync does not work anymore
2: When it does the dates are out of sync on leap years

when i try to apply androidhtcsync2.apk i get taken to a page headed htc sync manager asking "install update to this built in application?" when i click install i get "app not installed" ....sad face!

After installation of this driver of my HTC_M8 i reinstalled old sync manager (SYNC Manager Setup_3.1.54.2_htc) and all problems were gone.

ok. So after playing around a bit i found out how xeyph was able to fix this issue. It also worked for me! So here are the steps i took on my htc one m8:

(all of these steps will be done on your android phone)

first series of steps: start menu (the blocks above the home button, home button looks like a house) > settings > security > check unknown sources

second series of steps: start menu > file manager > androidhtcsync2.apk > install

once installed, just unplug your phone from your usb cable and plug it back in to restart the connection process with the htc sync manager and it should be all good to go!

Best of luck

this worked!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thank you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I feel your pain everybody. I spent well over a week going nuts trying to figure out. I am really disappointed in HTC. I went from being a fan who bought 3 HTC phones in 2 years, to wondering whether philosophically they deserve to even be in business.

For those of you looking for the .apk file, I put it them up on this free anonymous file sharing site. But, this crazy android central software will not let me post the links because I don't have more than 10 posts. Yeah I know they want to prevent spam but they also prevent people from helping each other.

Copy and paste one of the two URLs below into a browser tab, but change the first part from h$$ps to https. Someone who has more than 10 posts, please feel free to make them links and post them.

These should be safe to DL and should be impossible for someone else to corrupt/impersonate as long as the links are not changed. To recap, this file came from my HTC One M8. Using WiFi I emailed the file from my M8 to my gmail account, then downloaded to my M9 phone, overwriting the corrupted file that was shipped installed on my phone. I made the zip using the Windows 7 "send to zip file" desktop app. The unzipped file is straight off the M8 as-is, touched only by my phones, gmail and this file-sharing server.

FWIW, those asking about the M7, I don't know for sure. I seem to recall looking for it but not finding this version on that device. My One M7 synced up just fine, so it may have a different app or older app. I will charge it up later and see if I can find any more about it.

Good luck and I hope this helps. Shame on HTC for not making these files accessible to all!

Hey Mangomaid,

I know it is kind of a while ago but I hope you still have the .apk file.
Maybe I'm blind but I didn't find the link you described??
I was looking for it on the internet but all I found were some shady site's I didn't trust.
Could you email me the file? My htc m8 has the file but when I try to install it, it says it doesn't install.

I'm sick that I can't connect my phone. It's really crazy and I'm sure I'm going to apple when my current deal expires.
There is always something with LG, HTC, Samsung(kind of okay but still not really content). I never wanted apple because it's overpriced and you have less options. Yeah you can't install specific things but I don't HAVE TO install specific things to look through my files.
Anyway if you can help me that would be great!

Thanks anyway

Here is how you properly solve the HTC Sync Manager Conflict:

Unfortunately, updating your HTC phone does not put in the proper files needed for the sync manager. Therefore, you must do the following, and even later when updates stop working:

1) Download newest version of HTC Sync Manager to your computer.
2) Hook your phone up to the computer.
3) On your computer, go to Program Files (or wherever your HTC files are located) to HTC then HTC Sync Manager then copy all of the AndroidHtcSync.apk files (typically 6).
4) On your computer go to your HTC phone connected file explore/manager then paste those files directly in your Internal Storage folder for your phone. You may/should see these types of files already there. Hit copy and replace the ones that are duplicates.
5) On your phone, Go to Settings - Security - then check the box for Unknown Sources
6) On your phone Go to File Manager - Go to the pasted AndroidHtcSync pasted files, and tap on the first one and click Install then Done. Repeat separately for each AndroidHtcSync file (again typically 6 of them). Some may say not installed, some or one will say Installed.
7) Unplug your phone, Restart, then reconnect. Wait a few minutes and should connect.

Everyone refers to "start menu settings> FILE MANAGER". But there is no such setting/menu item under Settings. Where is it, anyone?
Also, in anticpation of the apk file not being there, where can it be downloaded from? I have tried one an got stung with the dreaded s3-ap-southeast-amazonaws.com screen [what a nightmare].

Your file manager is going to be in with your apps (that block of nine dots) not your settings. All worked for me but now I have to sort it out on Win 10.

I had dowloaded the link. Now what? Don't know what to do. Can you please explain next steps. Thank you.
