HTC Sync (with cable to Outlook on my desktop) worked fine for a few weeks after I got the Evo and doesn't work now. Trying to start it brings up an error message "Unable to create device manager instance".

I've searched the web and forums and have tried every suggestion, none of which work.

Has anyone here had this problem and actually solved it?

Have you tried an uninstall/reinstall? If you uninstall it, you might try going to the device manager afterwards and remove any drivers (if any) that were left behind.

Yes... I've installed/re-installed multiple times. It originally worked flawlessly for a week or two and now I get this error message every time HTC Sync starts. I've reinstalled the version on the Evo card as well as the latest from HTC website.

Spoke with Sprint Tech Support and they wanted to change out the phone, but since the error and problem seems to be on the PC, I called HTC and got my problem escalated to the next support level which seems (after a week) to be a help level with no one home....

It's been nearly two weeks now and it seems apparent that elevating my support ticket to the next level really means "there's no answer and we won't call back."

I've researched this issue all over and find no solution. I've tried every version of HTC sync with no results.

Had I known HTC sync didn't work this WOULD have been a deal breaker on getting this phone. Guess I should have waited a couple of months to read forums and see how things go.
