HTC Wildfire What Battery Is Good Quality

I have an original HTC Wildfire phone (not the S version) and the battery life now very poor indeed. The factory fitted battery (1300mAH) lasted well for for the first 12 months of medium phone usage but then stopped fully charging any more and lasted for ever decreasing lengths of time. So I bought a new "uprated" battery (1500mAH) off an Amazon seller (UK) and this is worse than the original after just a week. Trying to follow advice I charged it to full before first use and allowed it to deplete completely for "conditioning" purposes. It now lasts about 4 hours without even using the phone. Thinking this was simply a duff battery I bought another but the same thing has happened.

Is there a decent battery brand out there? I'd hate to have to buy a new phone just because this one needs to be on charge all the time.

Thanks in advance.

Thanks Kevin

I read somewhere that you can tell the quality of a battery by its weight. The heavier the better.

Might there be any truth in this or just somebodys theory? Have to admit the aftermarket ones I bought were lighter than the factory one.

It would make sense that heavier batteries have more material on the inside, but without taking the battery apart how do you know it's not just full of iron to make it heavy? :p

I wouldn't put much into the weight being a sign of capacity. Also, most batteries won't report their exact capacity, there will be some leeway. So if you buy a 1400mAh battery but it reports as 1350 you'd be ok.

Think I'll buy a new "genuine" HTC battery (1300mAh) and see if that gets me by for another year or so.

The internal memory ran out recently and I had to transfer some apps to the SD card. Be lucky to get another 12 months out of this phone anyway. Then I'll dive into the minefield of what phone to get next. :-\
