Huawei Nexus SD810 is a DEAL BREAKER for me

Which will be a few months before a 830 or 850 or 900 processor with quick-charge 4.0 and super-pursuit mode. There is always something better on the horizon. When you need a phone, just get the best phone that suits your needs right now.

You make a good point as well.

So true. By the time the 820 ships in a phone next year we'll have heard rumours about the 830 (or 825 etc.). Guaranteed.

Wow, the OPT seriously suffered in that test.

Yep,

And I try my best to defend the SD810.

Despite it being poor because of overheating issues and now throttled. I want to be able to tell people that it still remains the best chip out there. It benchmarks the highest (including in the OP2) and OEM's are still putting it in their new phones, so that would make sense to me.

But with videos like that I am struggling to justify that argument.

I'll buy the 6p then go back to not caring about phones.

I mean honestly, why do people need the 820 so badly? If you're running an old phone, you obviously seem to be able to function fine with it if you're willing to wait a whole extra year just for a SOC. Will your phone habits randomly change just cause you have a faster processor?

It's like those PC guys who get i7 quad cores with hyperthreading over i5's because they want the power in case they expect to do something hardcore because they now can...and they end up not utilizing anything close to that power and wasting time/money.

Spec wise sounds better. I have a SD800 and runs everything smoothly. I play modern combat 5 a lot and the only issue I have had is internet connection at hotels but I usually have that going and maybe Pandora without issues on my LG G3.

Battery life is another factor but it's not going to give you a 2 hour boost. It might help with a few extra minutes to maybe an hour at most. Screens today are the biggest battery drainer.

Not in the Moto X Play. It's screen is actually very efficient. It very rarely tops the list. Hardly ever. Only if you have it at maximum brightness all the time. It's quite remarkable.

You'll see when the 820 devices roll out. If the i5 also throttled massively during gaming session or really anything that is intensive, for a period of time, that would be alot more accurate. ;)

I have the i5 on my xps and I can't imagine needing anything faster! it's a marketing scheme for 95% of the people.

the 810 is a slightly different situation. will it affect actual real world use? probably not. but for people that pass on a phone this year because of it, simply because they feel they're paying for something they're not getting, that's understandable IMO

I think I will wait and see if the 810 makes a difference. When the phone actually comes out. If phone runs well I will buy if phone doesn't I won't. No reason to worry about it til then.

Would really like to see a review for the phone before saying the 810 is a deal breaker. If it still presents the issues other phones have seen then then maybe we can complain.

Again, I point to Sony. All the reviews so far of the Z5 Compact have been very positive in the performance and (lack of) overheating department.

If the cooling hardware is done right, the 810 isn't that bad. If you're happy with how the 805 performs then you'll be happy with the 810. If you're looking for a major leap, then sure, you won't find it. I personally think that even the 800 in the original Nexus 5 still gives a great user experience. It is pure Android after all.

I can now see why Huawei went with the 810.

They literally went for the best possible spec in every category. And the 808 isn't the best processor at the moment

Some people would like to claim otherwise but the GPU of the 810 handily beats the 808. There's no getting around that.

Re: Hauwei Nexus DEAL BREAKER!!

i disagree with the OP, this is the 2nd revision of the s810 so it was fixed already. this phone looks like the best choice since the s6. ill for sure be buying as long as the price doesn't exceed $500.

just so you know... the 'revision' is just a software update

If it Nexus "6" I am pretty sure it will be priced around $600 like last years model. If specs are true then I definitely couldn't imagine it being $500 dollars because that's not cost effective.

You call massive clock speed reduction or over the top cooling designs a "fixed" SoC? Just look at that OnePlus Two speedtests video posted above and see how a "fixed" 810 performs.

Assuming Sony's cooling design really works, that is the way to go with this chip. Just leave it alone and figure out some over the top cooling, let it be a beast.

What proof do you have there are actually devices with v1 SD810's out there?
