Hi,

Phone App on this phone works but I can only hear a voice the background. The screen goes black, it doesn't progress to another page, like it usually does, with Icons at the bottom - a red phone icon/ in the middle, a speaker icon to increase the volume. Also, a template appears - phone isn't responding - close app. A green bar appears at top of screen, with an endless timer, reflecting time of call, unable to end this. Unable to end call, or increase volume, which is the most annoying thing.

Appreciate any help on this issue.

Are you using the default phone app?
Try clearing it's data and force stop it

Welcome to Android Central! You can also try wiping the cache partition, which won't affect any personal data. Follow the steps here, but make sure to select Wipe Cache Partition, and not Wipe Data.

FYI, that's a pretty old phone (released in 2017), so you will be more likely to run into issues with the hardware, firmware, or compatibility with current apps.
