Android Central Question

I've recently switched from an aged Windows phone (Nokia Lumia 620 I think it was) to a Huawei P10. The Nokia used to back up photos automatically to Onedrive, and I'm trying to work out how to make sure the Huawei pics also get automatically backed up.

I've linked to my Google account and set to back up data.

From what I can see, photos are backing up - but to Google Photos rather than Google Drive - and although other data is meant to be backed up to Google Drive, I can't find any sign of this on Google Drive.

If someone would kindly explain what's where and how to make sure it goes there to a smartphone novice, I would be very grateful!

Welcome to Android Central! Google Photos is actually integrated into Google Drive, but I find the interface in Drive to be less helpful for photos. You can show your photos in Drive by opening the Drive app, going to Menu>Settings, and turning the Auto-Add toggle on. Remember, this doesn't mean your photos are being saved to two different places -- it's just two ways to view the same thing.

While you're at it, go to the Backup & Sync option in your Google Photos app, and make sure you have it set to High Quality, rather than Original Quality. High Quality gives you unlimited storage, and the quality of the photos is still high (up to 16 MP resolution, with a small amount of compression that I've never been able to notice).

If you have all your photos backed up to OneDrive why not just download OneDrive and keep doing the same? I've used OneDrive across all my Windows Phones, iPhone's and Androids seamlessly
