Press home+ volume down+ power to boot into recovery you won't be able to see anything but adb should be able to detect the phone.

I'm not familiar with adb, but in my experience running the program as administrator could help. Try that.

it didnt work. If someone could give me the dumbed down version of how to use sdk tools and adb, i can start fresh and hopefully learn. ( so in the future i can help newbs like me)

Ok. I have now tried using ROM Tools, made by mmmark111. And i get stuck trying to flash a ROM.

When i attempt to it says "unknown error : 0"

If you are using windows 7, hold shift and right click on the folder named platform-tools in the android folder on the root of your computer hard drive.
That will open the command prompt to the proper folder. That is where you will type your commands.

Clicking on adb in the folder will not open it up for you.

If you are not using windows 7 hit the start button type cmd.exe in the search right click on the results and run as admin. Now you will have to change directories to the android folder. Use google to search how to do that.

once you get the command propmt in the proper directory typing adb devices should show your phone connected to your pc. To input the commands you will need to type adb shell to get into your phone.

ok.I fixed the black screen. IIM going to open a new thread to get help with the new problem ive incounterd. Thanks to everyone that helped me.

There is video on YouTube on how to fix this issue, just type in LG Optimus V in the search window on YouTube's website. There is a lot of valuable video that may help. You have more friends out here than you know. You are not alone in this. Good luck!
